Subject: BS: Justice Clarence Thomas speaks!! 2/29/16 From: Wesley S Date: 29 Feb 16 - 09:34 PM Maybe because it's a leap year but Justice Clarence Thomas actually spoke from the bench today. Story Here Washington was actually talking about someone other than Donald Trump on Monday, and that someone was not another presidential candidate. It was Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. People were talking about Thomas because Thomas was talking. In the Supreme Court chamber, during oral arguments, the 67-year-old Thomas asked multiple questions. There might seem to be nothing out of the ordinary in that, except that Thomas had gone since February 2006 hearing hundreds of oral arguments without asking a single question. |

Subject: RE: BS: Justice Clarence Thomas speaks!! 2/29/16 From: gnu Date: 01 Mar 16 - 04:43 PM As for His Esteemed Justice... can't say I ever liked his decisions. And, now, this? "The law bars someone found guilty of spousal abuse from owning a gun." In Canada, "nope" and the laws are clear on that. A spouse has to sign off on the Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) up front and the spouse can "rescind" that sign-off. And that's the way it should be until the offending spouse is divorced, repeat, DIVORCED, for a reasonable amount of time. What's a reasonable amount of time? I would GUESS at least a year. Canada has good (mostly) gun laws. The US should look into what we do up here in the Great White Frozen. gnightgnu |

Subject: RE: BS: Justice Clarence Thomas speaks!! 2/29/16 From: Wesley S Date: 02 Mar 16 - 09:56 PM I started this thread to talk about Justice Thomas but if the usual suspects are just going to engage in the same old/same old the mods may as well shut this down. Mischief managed for now. ---mudelf |

Subject: RE: BS: Justice Clarence Thomas speaks!! 2/29/16 From: GUEST, ^*^ Date: 03 Mar 16 - 09:46 AM I can't see past the man's sordid behavior to Anita Hill. She was essentially put on trial by the Senate Judiciary committee, they allowed all and sundry to step up and call Hill names; steno-pool secretaries were sworn in to speak in front of the nation and speculate on Hill's psychological well-being (I remember one woman suggesting "transference", like she knew what she was talking about or was entitled to make a diagnosis? No one told her she went too far.) Thomas is an embarrassment. His looney tunes view of the basis of American law should never have been considered valid background for such an august role. |

Subject: RE: BS: Justice Clarence Thomas speaks!! 2/29/16 From: Wesley S Date: 03 Mar 16 - 11:53 AM I've just always questioned why he's there if he isn't going to participate. If he can't think of anything to ask he should just stay home. Talk about a "bench-warmer". |
