Subject: RE: Looking for words to 'Thuthie' From: Hrothgar Date: 12 Sep 02 - 07:34 AM If thith ith the "Be My Little Thweetheart, Thuthie" song, I think I have it on a CD of The Poms from Oz. I'll see if I can transcribe it. Be nice if one of our hotshots with a search engine finds it first, though. |
Subject: ADD: Thuthie (Cosmotheka) From: GUEST,The Fantum Date: 16 Sep 02 - 04:03 PM Lyric add Title ? Authors ? Probably a music hall song This is a version by Cosmotheka Last line of the chorus supplied by Cosmotheka

She said "Thith ith tho thudden
Chorus
Tho far tho good (said)
They knelt in church on Sunday
Chorus
Rpt last line of Chorus End............. Tho far tho good tho they thay, and below is a transcription into a more understandable form
Sammy Simpson used to tearfully confess
She said"Most certainly"
Chorus
Susie Susie be my little sweetheart Susie
She said "This is so sudden
Chorus
So far So good (said)
They knelt in church on Sunday
Chorus
Rpt last line of Chorus End......... Now explanations Mistakes are all my own and I claim them I could not transcribe the last line of the chorus on the recording and many years ago I wrote to Cosmotheka asking for the words. A few days later the last line came through with a very kind note. The death of one of the brothers brought an untimely end to a great duo and it is stll a cause of much regret that I never saw their show. Seven and six was the cost in shillings and pence of a marriage license in todays parlance 38 english pence which is less than a dollar. I learned this years ago and don't recall having to much trouble getting the words. It always goes well Over the years as I have developed confidence as a performer I teach the chorus to the audience. Word of warning the audiences I play too are waiting for me to make a mistake and its my avowed aim in life to dissappoint them. You may have kinder people in Theattle Lotth of Luck Lotht in Theattle The Fantum

Subject: RE: Looking for words to 'Thuthie' From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 16 Sep 02 - 04:35 PM Cosmotheka - a brilliant act. Here's a link telling more. Al Sealey sadly died in 1999, which means no more Cosmotheka - but the other half of the act, his brother Dave, is still performing.
The records are great. But what I'd really love to get hold of would be a video of a Cosmotheka performance. (I suppose there might be one from the last time they were at Sidmouth in the Arena...) |
