Is anyone besides me outraged at resident Bush's comment about his appearing before the commission on terrorists? I'd hate to have his nerve in a tooth!

What is wrong with the commission that they accepted his terms of 1) meeting in the Oval office, 2) refusing to testify under oath, 3) allowing no taping, no record of testimony, save one "note-taker," and 4) having to have his handler, Cheney" there

kat, I read somewhere that because he took the oath of office, he is already under oath any time he speaks officially. Damn. I do hope he 'misspoke" and that the truth will finally convince the bushites.

I think there has been a recent change in the law that now makes it a crime to lie to any government official during the course of any investigation. You don't have to be under oath.

I think that's how they convicted Martha Stewart.

We'll see whether it applies to one government official lying to another.

Yes indeed, you can be charged with making a "false official statement" in almost all Gov't related investigations. Oath or not. We expect the people in places of authority to be up front and honest with us so that we can prevent whatever happened from happening again. If we can prove they lied, we'll go after them.

What's really outrageous effrontery is his latest statement about how deeply disgusted he is that some GI's were torturing Iraqi POWs. Yet he is singly responsible for spilling more Arab blood on the sands of Mesopotamia than any other world leader since Queen Victoria. Probably since Ghenghis Khan.

But somehow, that doesn't disgust him, all those spilled brains and intestines and torn muscles and heart's blood spilled out. Now, what is disgusting is the dozen or so that got caught up by the torture detail.

Why? Because one of these is Un=American. The other is not. He thinks he knows which.
