Many Republicans have more in common with Mormon wives and underage little girls who are gradually hypnotized inside a realm of anxiety to submit and obey than they currently realize. Waking up to their own critical thinking is tough when being woke is described as being evil.

My experience of being a hypnotist and how easy it is to cause a person to behave in unlikely ways is my experience so I don't expect others to see things from my perspective.

Recovery from such brainwashing requires seeing the lies, being separated from the believers, and time to self examine themselves.
This does not absolve them from any crimes they committed while under the influence, but it does restore and reset their broken minds.

Not everyone will recover.

Verily, Donuel: the whole boiling mess has the cult nature. I've separately seen a reference today to "the Banana Republic(an) party", which in turn suggests "cargo cult politics" .... which both big parties in the USSA appear to be guilty of.

There's two full articles in The New World last week (issue 477, 2nd April) which are relevant. The first, entitled "How MAGA ate itself", details the chronic splits and playground-language spats at the alleged top of the MAGA movement, which suggest that the almighty cat fight that I predicted over the succession is already under way, and has been for years.

The second, with the disturbing headline "Trump's all your fault", includes:

Many believe that ideological uniformity is strength and that in the face of rising authoritarianism, the last thing you do is open the door to disagreement. But institutions that cannot tolerate internal dissent are the least equipped to fight it externally.

.... I'll leave it there awhile.

I agree Donuel. An excellent analogy.

I also suspect that the act of dropping a midnight F-bomb could be more of a wake-up call to many MAGA supporters, especially the Christian supporters - even more of a wake-up call than dropping a real bomb on a school and killing 160 or more schoolgirls.
