Subject: Not confused, just wonderin'.....? From: teller Date: 11 Aug 99 - 03:52 PM I've just read the thread 'Confused, Beccles' and, as a relative newcomer to the 'Cat as well, I was just wonderin'...... Are there any 'Cats in S.W. England, specifically Devon? I know there is at least one, she is no longer in the country, and the styrange thing is, she used to live in the same village/town as I do. Secondly, do the U.K. 'Cat-ers ever have a get together? I agree wholeheartedly that the sense of community on the Cat is something I have never really come across before. It can take a wee while to get used to who is related to whom and in what fashion, but the effort is well worth while!! So, S.W./Devon/UK 'Cat-ers, tell me! Just wonderin'..... |

Subject: RE: Not confused, just wonderin'.....? From: GeorgeH Date: 12 Aug 99 - 08:50 AM Yes, you're right, Susan of DTs . . I was going to say "If you're not confused then clearly you haven't read the instructions . . " And as another relative newcommer here - does DT have a space for personal profiles of members? G. |

Subject: RE: Not confused, just wonderin'.....? From: Big Mick Date: 12 Aug 99 - 02:52 PM Thank you for joining us, we are very glad you are here. A couple of tips, number one, please contribute. Number two......get to know us. This is much more than the average online community.....Number three, the primary technical skill to learn is to use the Digital Tradition search engine and also the Forum Search. Lyrics are found in both places. This should always be your first search before requesting lyrics and tunes. They are often here already. Fourth, if you have a question just ask. We are very anxious to help our newcomers and each other. These are some of the finest and most caring people you will encounter anywhere. Good news is that you are now included in that company. Finally, the discussions here, in addition to music and craziness, are often on the subjects that spawn the music. Please remember that we can discuss and disagree without being disagreeable. I believe firmly that this community can discuss controversial subjects as long as folks here respect each others positions. Thanks for joining us. We are better for it. All the best, Mick |

Subject: RE: Not confused, just wonderin'.....? From: Peter T. Date: 12 Aug 99 - 03:13 PM teller, yes welcome -- there have been many threads about U.K. mudcatters, and their efforts (some successful!) to get together. You should to a search as described. I have forgotten the names, but if you checked a thread or two about well-know folk festivals which people talked about going to, you would probably get some clues. yours, Peter T. |

Thanks to everyone who has replied to this thread - it's a nice change to be able to chat, either seriously, or with a touch of madness, to people who are like-minded. DR.JOHN!!!!
