Subject: Lyr Req: What are these last lines from From: Nick Barnett Date: 29 Sep 19 - 05:01 PM The last lines are: Something the something morning Something the something morning Something the something day In my head, I am imagining Maddy Prior of Steeleye Spann singing it, but that could be wrong. It's possibly a returning soldier and his girl-type dialogue, but I can't think of any more of the story. I can fill out the 'something's a bit, though. It's For the misty morning, or And the cloudy morning, or similar, brings in the brighter day, or dawns the sunny day, or heralds the clear new day . . . Anyone? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: What are these last lines from From: Jeri Date: 29 Sep 19 - 07:58 PM Julia, it's "swifly go then", not "golden". It is on Gordon Bok's website Timberhead, and here at Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: What are these last lines from From: Jeri Date: 29 Sep 19 - 08:03 PM But with the bit about girl voices and Maddy Prior, it doesn't sound like Gordon Bok. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: What are these last lines from From: Nick Barnett Date: 30 Sep 19 - 03:41 AM No, it was Dark Eyed Sailor. Thanks, folks! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: What are these last lines from From: GUEST,Julia L Date: 30 Sep 19 - 08:18 PM Thanks for the correction Jeri= and yes, her voice is nothing like his, but there is a female voice on the recording. I also thought perhaps some lady might have covered it In any case, I was wrong oh well J |
