When you encounter a person who is extremely brainwashed, don't get upset; just ask questions.

Bait and switch, preinterviews and spying, mystical manipulation, Memorizing obscure references, Promise something better Isolation from friends or family, Physical isolation, Sensory deprivation, Control pf communication, Sensory overload, Control of information, Fear, using new recruits to proselytize, Expectation of purity Labels, polarization, oversimplification, Confession and using confessions against you, Control of biologic necessities like diet or bathroom breaks, Sleep deprivation, Removal of sense of time, Starvation, Control of sex and money, Control of movement, Drugs, Creating dependency, Trust falls, Creating stress and then removing it, Good cop bad cop, False equivalencies, Self punishment, creating parent child relationship, Yaking away self image, The slow sale, Sharing secrets, Whataboutisms, Straw,am arguments, Endless meetings, monotonous repetitive tasks, Peer pressure, Breakdown and rebuild, Gas lighting and loeomg, Loaded language, Thought terminating cliches, Changing the definitions of words, Borrowed legitimacy, The big lie, message repetition, Say it often enough until it feels true, Creating expectations and breaking them.

Everyone is brainwashed to some degree that shapes their reality.

Brainwashing traps people in abusive relationships. It can even cause an insurrection. Often it is for financial exploitation.

So, how can we help someone who has been brainwashed? Understanding and empathy are key. It's crucial to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for the person to express their thoughts and feelings. Engaging them in open-ended conversations can help them question their beliefs and come to their own conclusions
.If you do wash their brains, use a gentle wash in case they might shrink whilst being washed

Sandman is right. Open-minded exploration of cult-like beliefs should seem non-judgmental to allow the believer freedom of thought.

When a lawyer has no plausible defense, they use something called a fallback defense. That is a defense that accuses the process of being a failure. Things like a chain of custody are called into question. The entire investigation is accused of being sloppy, faulty, and stupid.

When Trump has no defense, he accuses journalists and media reports of being fraudulent, fake, faulty news.

Donuel - I think Trump is what you could call street smart. He knows what works, but not why.

By being the progenitor of the post-truth culture he can say anything and we dismiss it eventually as fake news, which taints ALL news. So we have to spend time proving "truths". Meanwhile he has flooded the zone with more mendacity. That is his art. Dividing the opposition by giving them their favourite subject to moither over. Each opponent is busy with different "truths". Bull in a China Shop is apt. First protect "your" cherished vase. Which just results in the Bull charging you instead of the vase or including it!

I have no solutions, just a hope that the average American is intelligent enough, in big enough quantities to bring sanity.
