Being half French, I wish to extend my best wishes to my Acadian brothers on this National Acadian Day. Going to the festival(s) and hear and play some tunes. As they say in Shaque.... parrrrrrtaay mes amis !

New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island were, under French rule, known as Acadia (English spelling). When the Brits took over, things weren't so good for the Acadians. Many were "expelled" in 1755 for refusing to swear allegiance to the crown. Most ended up in and around Louisiana. Many returned, suffering great hardship.

That's the Reader's Digest version, shortened considerably. Their history is long and their culture is vibrant. Great music. Great people.

The Cajuns from Jimmy C Newman's band used to say that they only knew two musical instructions - 'loud' and 'fast'.

Oh my ! Oh my ! CarolC ! M' amie !

I'll give dat box a squeeze, just for ye, m' amie.

teeheeteeheeteehee

It's hard to ryhme in French and "Irish" at the same time as having toooo many ales. Couldn't make it to the fete. Got a job tomorrow morning at the last minute and have to make the rent when the opportunity arises... sucks !!

BTW C... accordian has reverted to previous owner. We won't be able to make beautiful music together after all. Nay, hold your tears woman... it was for the best... when I squoze the box, all that eminated was dreadful. All I have is the Hran and my new guitar and I don't even have time for the guitar. Perhaps another time, another place.

Got to go... another customer on the line...
