The good folks over at PR Watch.Org are maintaining this Spin of the Day list to enable those who are concerned to find their way thorough some of the smoke and mirrors being exported by the D.C. Spinmeisters.

Enjoy!

I shall herein make public my Modest Proposal Regarding Washington, DC.

Make 'em telecommute.

That's right. We now have the capability to link ALL members of Executive and Legislative Branches electronically. Compared to some of the stuff that's been done lately, it wouldn't cost all that much to put in a massive fiber-optic network to do this (not wireless for security reasons). The public could, if they wished, "watch" Congress and the Executive Dept. at work from the comfort of their own homes.

This would have several beneficial effects:

1. Senators and Representatives could live in their districts, among their constituents. There would be no need for them to live and work in DC. More contact with those they represent! More contact with Real People!

2. Lobbying would be difficult at best....

3. One nuclear weapon wouldn't take out what passes for the country's leadership.

I'm certain you could think of others.

Other interesting things might also happen.

1. Costs would go down, since it's almost certainly cheaper to live and work in their districts than in DC.

2. We could pay each Senator and Representative the average salary in their district, with additional money voted upon and based upon how well the people in the district thought that the dude did last year.

3. I can hear the legislators now: "Fer Gods Sake! You want me to live WHERE?!?!?!"

B*llshit you are! I've BEEN to DC many, many time, 'cause my in-laws live there! You go, I'll hold your coat!

(Besides, I very much doubt that our elected officials will vote to do it -- too rational. And I don't see where it's unconstitutional....)

Arnie can be President, but not of the US. There's this little tiny clause in the Constitution.... Although the first bunch of Presidents weren't born as American citizens....

You know it's funny. All those high priced lawyers, lobbyists, Gov't officials, brass and glass hotels, etc. and the highways and roads of DC are s**t. 295 around DC is the worst road I've ever been on in my life and the DC drivers make it all the more hazardous. Especially the ones with "diplomatic" tags.

I say we put the congresspeople on their own state's dole. And no more voting for their own pay raises (by the way they have to vote against it or its automatic).

I agree with the telecommuting. If they don't have two homes (which they get dispensation for) they'd have to resort to hotel rooms to carry on their affairs and they'd be easier to catch. It would probably solve some of the smog probelms in DC. All that hot air being dispensed over the 50 states would probably clear up the inversion over the Potomac valley.

"No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President" - easy peasy, the Supreme Court just decides that "natural born" means not born by Caesarian Section.

Remember these are they guys who put Bush into the White House and stopped the count when it looked like it'd keep him out.

They might go further than that for a decision. It might all depend on whether your parents were using the officially sanctioned "missionary position" when you were conceived as well as having to have been legally (church) married.

They can't send in the clones, then.

So, if you were from your mother's womb untimely ripped....

Having read some of Arnie S.'s platform, I think he's too far left for the current pres. administration. Besides, his wife offends them.
