Subject: Evil Mystery Guest From: GUEST Date: 04 Feb 01 - 01:42 PM Hee Hee! I just got the new, upstairs, computer hooked up and working. I don't think I'll register on this machine, though. That way I can be myself on one machine and be really nasty on the new one, and no one will know. Also, since this is upstairs, I can get on the Mudcat nekkid, if I want to. Boy, are you folks in for a thrill! (wanders off tittering insanely.....) |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:09 PM how evil are you? as evil as a naked Anne Widicombe? Or are you that Evil Father Christmas from the other thread a while back??????? |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Banjer Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:11 PM Hello EVIL GUEST! Are you sure you didn't mean to say: 'That way I can be myself on one machine and be really nasty on the new one, and no one will know the difference!' Looking forward to your attempts at evility (is that a word?) |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: John Routledge Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:13 PM You will have to be pretty evil to out do earlier "Guest" evil. I will get my magnifying glass out. Yours in anticipation - Geordie Broon |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Irish sergeant Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:40 PM If I didn't know any better I'd suspect Spaw. Oh Wait, I don't. Kindest reguards, in humor and friendship, Neil |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:45 PM Thanks Amos! Sorry, darlin', not me though. I'd be more transparent in my posting! LOL!! Plus who sez I put on clothes EVER when I am on the computer? Just cuz the LR puder is in front of two street windows-- Traffic goes 55, so who cares? OK, there is that blue and white polka dotted bikini, but that's just for when parishioners come over. I think it's La Scorche. Maybe it's Amos. Did you add a second story since I been there? Giving up that bathrobe for good? *B*G* ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:48 PM Madame, I assure you that it is not I. I admit to having an Upstairs/Downstairs, but She Who Must be Obeyed will not ALLOW me to even look at her computer!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:52 PM OK, fuggit! Thread hijack! Who would you LIKE it to be?? Winner pays Max a fee or buys a round at the Tavern! Hmmmm.... I nominate Brett... Or... Bert. Oh my! Look at their names! Are they the same person? I think it's Naemanson. Although what he is doing nekkid in Sorcha's upstairs, I cannot picture. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Max Date: 04 Feb 01 - 02:52 PM I see that you use the same ISP on the two machines. Silly mistake, the IP address that is issued when you connect happens to match exactly this time (a lucky coincidence that provides me certainty, usually it is just close enough to allow me a confident guess). A cookie is not all that I can keep track of. I know who you are. When you ruin your reputation here, let me know, I'll put you in touch with 3 other catters who made the same mistake and regretted it. 2 of the 3 have repented and are working very hard to repair the damage that was done, not only to their Mudcat lives, but their real lives too. It's not quite easy, but possible. A reminder to everyone: Anonymity does not exist on the internet. There are tricks and services that promise it, but all are flawed. You only need to be paranoid if you are up to no good. Have a nice day. |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 01 - 03:01 PM Heyy, Max!!Welcome home!! How was Florida? Naem of the Name.......if Naemeson is nekkid upstairs in Kate's room I think we'd better let her know so she can take advantage of him,,,,,,,,LOL hee hee hee!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Little Hawk Date: 04 Feb 01 - 03:01 PM Which is why it is wise not to be evil when posting as a "guest" on Mudcat... Better to just be funny...or irretrievably stupid. Or both. I guess... - LH |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 03:04 PM LH, irretrievable? You ain't met Sugar Dog yet. She jump in de water fetch you out quick. I think the EMG is a Hess Hamster on the LAM. (Life After Mudcat.) ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Little Hawk Date: 04 Feb 01 - 03:09 PM Speaking of the hamsters, one of them went without water for maybe 24 hours due to an unexpected occurrence...and got quite weak...but is now on the mend, fortunately. Whew! (big sigh of relief) - LH |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: katlaughing Date: 04 Feb 01 - 03:14 PM Someone mentioned they were getting a new one in the next day or so. Can't remember who, but seems like it was someone benign.:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: GUEST,EMG Date: 04 Feb 01 - 04:49 PM Aw, come on, Max, don't out me. You cheated. Besides, I won't be nasty to anyone except knee-jerk liberals...and knee-jerk conservatives...and banjo players...and bodhran players...and people who are upset by naked people....and flamers....and a few others I may think of later.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Bill D Date: 04 Feb 01 - 04:53 PM no one even needs a 2nd 'puter just to go without a cookie part of the time..(for innocent games like logging in as God or Sartre..*grin*)...but as Max says, being truly anonymous is a bit harder...and won't make you feel better, even if you WERE able to...just stay in the light ans play nicely, now...*grin* |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Dave Wynn Date: 04 Feb 01 - 04:57 PM Yeah..Bhdrhadrhann players are fair game. I play one and I am frequently nasty to myself. Dunno about the Libs , Torys and Banjo players... Leave Him / Her alone Max....Using DHCP admin to vet IP adds (and release or outscope them) is taking unfair advantage of the little innocent...;-) Spot. |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 05:04 PM Well, I couldn't get rid of my cookie for WEEKS. Damn Mudcat woudn't let me sign out! Once I finally did-- it was like going braless. A relief at first, but then... not so much! So the line about being nekkid-- I can relate! I just wanna know, is EMG a she going without a brazzer or a he riding jockeyless? Or-- omigod-- a he going braless... oh I see someone already guessed Spaw, nevermind! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: SINSULL Date: 04 Feb 01 - 05:10 PM Guest EMG. No one will know? Max knows. But more importantly, you will know. Now what could you possibly say anonymously that couldn't be said under your own name? Assuming it is something that needs saying, of course. |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Dave Wynn Date: 04 Feb 01 - 05:31 PM I feel the letter S is significant in this..... Spot (the clairvoyant) dog. |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 05:38 PM It would have to be someone who is awful nice usually, since their alternate identity will be nasty. I wonder... ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Dave Wynn Date: 04 Feb 01 - 05:56 PM I am not sure but I seem to see only what I get....no....It's gone....Like the reeds in Wind in the Willows....I've lost it.... Spot |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: SINSULL Date: 04 Feb 01 - 06:52 PM Spaw doesn't titter. It is someone else. |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Bill D Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:07 PM it is 'someone else' who is now thinking it over....since Max does NOT seem to be viewing this as fun anymore.. |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Jeri Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:23 PM It's probably someone else who is wondering why people are taking this so seriously, when they thought everyone would guess who it was, and they were mainly saying (with a little bit of smart-alecky joking around) they had their new computer working, but I could be wrong. Spot, I lost it a long time ago. It's all that bellowing out of sea shanties that did it. If anyone's found it, please e-mail me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: hesperis Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:23 PM A "Hess Hamster"? Hello! I don't have an upstairs, although I hope to be getting one in April... maybe. Yes, my hammie is doing much better, and is almost up to all her usual tricks. I'm going to put the ball inside her cage with the lid that she can get in and out of, until I can get a wheel for the cage. That way she won't get forgotten IN the ball when I'm sick... |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Gary T Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:28 PM I see this opening post that strikes me as clearly lighthearted and tongue in cheek, with many responses in a similar vein. Then every so often there's a post that comes across as very heavy and serious. Is it just me, or does that seem strange? Am I misjudging something here? |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Bill D Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:35 PM well, it's hard to tell, Gary...*smile*....we get some serious mischief makers and some light-hearted teasers...it is best to head off ANY ideas that someone might have to be the former... |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: catspaw49 Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:36 PM Thank you Sins.......and Max will assure you all it is not I. And I don't have a clue myself. Sounds more joking to me like Gary and others have said. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: wysiwyg Date: 04 Feb 01 - 08:18 PM What you see often IS what you get. I saw an invitation to play, and no harm being done elsewhere across the Forum. I say we take EMG over to the Mellow tavern Hess just opened and play 20 questions, but without a limit of 20 questions. Surely we are creative enough to drag the truth out of an experienced Mudcatter through cleverly-worded yes and no questions. EMG, will you answer true and honest? We can ask all sorts of musical questions... let's go have a nice drink over at the recliner section... ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Jeri Date: 04 Feb 01 - 08:26 PM Tittering just didn't fit with my idea of a truly evil guest. Maniacal laughter, maybe, but not tittering. |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Amergin Date: 04 Feb 01 - 08:30 PM Seems to me some one posted earlier saying that they were having problems with their new computer.....an Imac.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Troll Date: 04 Feb 01 - 09:00 PM Tittering, eh? This sounds like someone who is holding on to sanity by the slimmest of threads. We have only one computer so it can't be us! It could be Freddie. Nope. He doesn't know how to turn a computer on. So it isn't us! troll |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Pondering It All Date: 05 Feb 01 - 10:23 AM Why all the bother with two computers? I can do the same with one and having two browsers open at once. Though for Pal Talk I have to have both PCs connected and I do have more than one ISP. TWC |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Dave Wynn Date: 05 Feb 01 - 12:28 PM Not Spot (ask Max) Spot's a good little boy now....(apart from the odd accident on the carpet).. Spot. |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: GUEST Date: 05 Feb 01 - 12:34 PM I think we should ALL confess. That way no one will ever blame the actual doer of the deed, except maybe Max, and no one can claim later on it was them, exclusively, whether it was them, or not. It will dilute the impact, see? We can call this the Property of Distributive Blame. Each of us can shoulder our bit... like an Olympic flag in procession, that can be carried away by an updraft unelss we all hold down our section. OK? I'll go first. I lied!! It was... me! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Katcina Date: 05 Feb 01 - 12:38 PM I second that motion! It couldn't have been you since it was me!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: SINSULL Date: 05 Feb 01 - 12:40 PM Blame for what? Having two computers? Property of Distributive Blame sounds too much like original sin to me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: GUEST Date: 05 Feb 01 - 12:50 PM No, blame for perceived attempted two-facedness... hiding as a guest to be nasty, as was threatened... the P of DB erases the effect, see, not like original sin at all, since it seems that there was in fact no actual threat or harm planned. P of DB harnesses the urge to blame and subverts it completely by making it COOL but also IMPOSSIBLE to occupy the role of villain! There was this one town where someone killed the town bully. No one could be convicted because ALL confessed. Children sometimes discover this trick. WHO WAS SMOKING IN THE BATHROOM???? If the whole class claims blame, it's hard to assign punishment to the ONE if they all hang tough. This would work for world terrorism, too, I am sure. If all possible groups would just try to claim credit when a bomb goes off, it would be hard to take any one group's threats seriously after that. I think it WAS Sinsull, and she's just jealous that someone else stole the credit! ~S~ |

No cool dude like me titters, no matter who many brewskis he's chugged in the last hour, eh? Whaddaya think I am! No way was it me! And I don't post in my Birthday suit eether! It wasn't my dimwit bother Don eether, cos he don't know nothin' about compyuters, eh? All he knows hwo to do is to Chanelle surf and turn Guns & Roses up to ELEVEN!!! Which is cool with me. I like Guns & Roses too. Decent, man! Rock on! - BDiBR p.s. It reely wasn't me, okay? |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Sorcha Date: 05 Feb 01 - 05:54 PM I vote for a)Little Hawk, or b)any Orillian. We know they all titter, and the Hawk has a really weird sense of humor. Hell, ALL Orillians are weird.......they get their hamsters to speak in CropCircleTongues, after all. When they remember to water them............ |

Subject: RE: BS: Evil Mystery Guest From: Greyeyes Date: 05 Feb 01 - 06:18 PM Well, I sometimes drop my cookie to post as a guest, and I have 2 ISP's, but I only have 1 computer and live in a 1 bedroom flat with no upstairs, however, I am almost constantly nekkid when on the Mudcat, I kind of thought everyone was. Don't shatter my illusions, please. |
