I was reading the thread about assuming your own name on Mudcat and it reminded me of the time when some-one came up to me and said, "What's your name?" I told them and they looked puzzled and then said, "No, I mean, what's your 'real' name?"

Hello Travelling Singer,

Well remembered! The Thetford gig was connected to their Thomas Paine 200 festival, and I hear that Lewes is holding a festival as well. It was a shame for those people who had organised outside events, but we were indoors sharing some of the music we play on Wayland Community Radio's folk programme. I always enjoy singing to a non-folkie audience.

Thetford seemed to like us.......

While I was at Thetford, I had one of those experiences that makes what we do so worthwhile. There were great musicians to share the experience with and the 'stage' was very reminiscent of the rails of a ship and so a sea song or two seemed appropriate. After I had finishd my part of the concert a member if the audience came up to me and thanked me for singing a particular song. She used to sing it with her father when they were out sailing and she hadn't heard it for far too many years. My singing the song had made her day, and she had made mine. The magic of folk music!

It wasn't actually a beer festival. It was a Brewery Birthday Bash. Very good it was too.

Now........if you are in travelling distance of the Milkmaid Folk Club in Bury St. Edmunds, I would be very pleased to see you on the 17th July. I am supporting Peter and Barbara Snape with my usual eclectic selection of heritage songs. :o)

Hmmm.....There was Tony Powell, Garden Party, Grahame Maisey, Chris Woods and Rita Cherriman. The floor singers were many and varied. Talented bunch too. Singing Robin, Les Elvin, John White, Brixton Bert Crys and Mike Rothon to name just a few. Good times!

It's worth noting that the club is still going, and Crys and Mike are still heavily involved!
