I planted up some snowdrops recently in a pot outside, ready for Febuary. And they're sprouting now!
What do I do? Will they come up in Feb again...?

I was hoping for a mini Candlemass 'garden' with green shoots peeping up through the frosts..

I'm still gathering a fair crop of white [i.e. golden] raspberries. The calendar has certainly gone a bit crook...

Its the latest season I've known for Runner beans to still be cropping

Is there anything to be done, or will they bloom and fade and then bloom again in February?

I've never planted snow drops before I must confess, so I don't know their habits!

However my blinking marigolds have set seed and are happily germinating again, hope there's still some flowers waiting dormant for spring!

A knowledgeable friend says pop them in a sheltered spot and they should take many weeks to flower.

Like Mike we had some raspberries on the allotment yesterday (the variety is a late one - Autumn Bliss). We've also still got tomatoes growing in the greenhouse. It's definitely been a mild autumn!

Had the first frost this morning so things might be settling down now (and the parsnips should get sweeter).

CS were your snowdrops the 'standard' Galanthus nivalis type or some other species? There are several different species and some may even be autumn flowering.

Actually, I went looking for wild snowdrops (G. nivalis) earlier this year and, if anything, here in South Manchester, I thought that they were a bit late. I did actually find one of the other species (not an autumn flowering one) but by the time I found it (in March) I was too late and it had finished flowering (I knew that it was a different species because it had broader, pleated leaves).

Shimrod - I don't have the packaging now, but I'm pretty sure they were 'standard', same as ones you'd find in the wild. Not sure what the leaves will look like yet as they're just peeping through. Next time I'll keep them in the coal hole overwinter, out of the light, and put out early in the new year.
