Thanks to the privatization of war, US desert storm troopers don't have to pull KP duty any more. Halliburton is in charge of things like mess halls as well as providing "found" oil to the military among many other things.

The other things Halliburton does, that we hear about, are building schools. On occasion we hear that sanitation, water and electricity are still not fixed. They even made a commercial we saw in DC that said "Hey it's a war zone so we can't be expected to get everything done."

Few remember the bombing in the green zone of Baghdad that killed scores of US troops as they ate lunch in the circus tent that Halliburton provided. Halliburton dodged a bullet on that one since the original claims of a rocket attack was finally explained as a suicide bomber in the mess tent. It was also the greatest loss of life in one incident until a chopper recently went down.

Much can be explained away with the fog of war excuse and plain old denial. What may not be swept under the carpet bombing so easily may be the out right theft of money. $3 to $9 billion dollars worth of misplaced and lost money could go over $500 billion if the Swiss accounts of the Hussein family have been secretly recovered. I don't think we will ever be told.

As a memo to the few intrepid journalists who might still be alive, follow the money trail. Follow the crimes within the crimes such as the great bank and museum robberies that punctuated the early invasion of Iraq.

Remind people that no matter how privatized our wars may be, it is still our sons and daughters and our tax dollars that are being stolen. If nothing else perhaps one great big money scandal will strike a mortal blow to the inhabitants of the White House.

I can't believe that you can be so bitter that you have to rehash old lies such as this. This Halliburton thing has been beat....to....death. GET OVER IT! Start moving on to how we can make things better and stop living in the past.

The Conservatives have continuosly increased their majority since taking control in 1994. The massage they have is, evidently, the one that the majority of the American people want to hear. The one that the majority of the American people believe. So stop your useless whining. Your whining about Halliburton is the same as if the Conservatives were whining all the time about......

The only thing is that there's more evidence towards the guiltiness of the Clinton's misdeeds that there ever was about the suppossed misdeed's of Halliburton.

The nation has been entrusted into the hands of grafters and liars, led by the Executive Branch. The Commander in Chief is a war-monger who has lied so hard for so long that he can't remember what truth-telling even feels like.

The money scandals Donuel describes are like Hurricane Ivan hovering just off the coast. If they should happen to move in and hit he shore, the impact would be deafening. There is deep graft and Big Time Immorality at play in the ranks of the bully pulpit. Count on it.

If you want to be taken seriously you have to do more than "casting into the wind". Mudcat for the most part consists of critical thinking people who actually 'look stuff up'.

Don'l has a history of starting threads with internet fables, and then stirring the pot with additional inaccuracies. I tend to ignore them. In one of the most recent, headed "The real WMDs" he posted outright scientific nonsense of the type that can be heard on the AM radio of an evening, followed it up with no relevant references whatsoever and finally a reference to a nazi web-source, which itself was posting fables.


That kind of history leads to attitudes that he is inheriting on this thread, which looks to be a similar lope into loopiness.

A more honest posting might be: "Hey I've got an illustration for you to look at" That's what seems to be the genesis of this thread.

Halliburton's contracts in Iraq are more than $10.8 billion (thats your tax dollars) and has been investigated for overcharging and kickbacks. Government auditors, in nine separate reports have said that there is widespread and systemic problems with their work in Iraq.

Bechtel, Martin Lougheed and Caci International are also reaping huge profits with little accountability.

War has always been very profitable for a few people at the top.
