Waking up to their own critical thinking is tough when being woke is described as being evil. My experience of being a hypnotist and how easy it is to cause a person to behave in unlikely ways is my experience so I don't expect others to see things from my perspective. Recovery from such brainwashing requires seeing the lies, being separated from the believers, and time to self examine themselves. This does not absolve them from any crimes they committed while under the influence, but it does restore and reset their broken minds. Not everyone will recover. |

I've separately seen a reference today to "the Banana Republic(an) party", which in turn suggests "cargo cult politics" .... which both big parties in the USSA appear to be guilty of. There's two full articles in The New World last week (issue 477, 2nd April) which are relevant. The first, entitled "How MAGA ate itself", details the chronic splits and playground-language spats at the alleged top of the MAGA movement, which suggest that the almighty cat fight that I predicted over the succession is already under way, and has been for years. The second, with the disturbing headline "Trump's all your fault", includes:

It could become unbearable and are other people "worth it?" What I have not seen anywhere anyone mention, well, we just can't help right now for all the above reasons, but we would like to see hundreds of millions of people liberated and terrorist threats reduce. No one has acknowledged what is going on in the world right now --an almost universal uprising of the human spirit. Places we have probably never heard from. Places we thought were OK. I am not saying we should do this or we should do that. We are damned either way but we could at least say so sorry. |

Another problem is that Trump's promise to help liberate Iran was only hot air. Now he wants to help the latest Ayatollah extort tolls on shipping in international waters and split the take. Under international law, this (I believe) is called piracy. The suffering Iranian people, besieged on all sides, are lost in the shuffle. More executions are now underway for anybody considered disloyal. I for one am very sorry for the whole unspeakable situation and how it has come to this appallingly grotesque moment. |

I listened mostly to the NASA feed (so far it's still there, but I think their budget has been threatened), I didn't want the chatter the networks felt they must insert instead of letting the silence speak volumes as we watched. Probably bugs the hell out of Trump and Miller that DEI was on full display. Then I switched over to CNN and heard Anderson Cooper interview former astronauts and the fabulous Neil DeGrasse Tyson discuss the event. In the past the president has called to congratulate astronauts in space or after the landing, but I suspect the current guy has no interest in such courtesies. |
