Subject: BS: Its a gas ... or is it? From: Lox Date: 06 Jan 09 - 04:32 AM So now that the Georgian conflict has slipped off our radar, what do we think might be the outcome of this commercial dispute? |

Subject: RE: BS: Its a gas ... or is it? From: Will Fly Date: 06 Jan 09 - 04:46 AM Mmm... Russia says the Ukraine has not paid its bills. More cynical commentators say that the gas supply is being used as a political tool by Russia to dislodge the new, anti-Russian premier of the Ukraine. |

Subject: RE: BS: Its a gas ... or is it? From: Arnie Date: 06 Jan 09 - 04:47 AM The Russian gas company Gazprom is in financial difficulty due to the fall in gas prices and the huge expense of opening up new gas fields in the frozen north. Gazprom needs EU states' revenues and will not cut off gas to the EU. Unfortunately, the EU pipeline passes through Ukraine, who are losing their Russian gas supplies due to a pricing dispute. Despite assurances, Ukraine have started siphoning off gas intended for the EU and this is where our problems will lie over the winter. Gazprom is looking at building new pipelines that will bypass Ukraine but these are some way off yet. In the meantime, unless we can find an alternative supplier,Britain and the rest of the EU are hostage to the Russia/Ukraine gas dispute. I now wish I hadn't had my solid fuel fire converted to gas recently! |

Subject: RE: BS: Its a gas ... or is it? From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Jan 09 - 05:13 AM I believe that only a small percentage of the gas in the Uk comes from Russia. On the radio this morning it said something like 2.5% |

Subject: RE: BS: Its a gas ... or is it? From: bubblyrat Date: 06 Jan 09 - 02:42 PM Good excuse for a jolly good war though, don't you think ?? Although I am a bit concerned about the fact that, underneath the "box" into which I am typing this, it says " Ukranian Women-----Nice women looking for serious relation " (sic) And....."Beautiful Ukranian Women.....75 percent of men are get engaged (sic) after one of our Ukraine tours. " .........must be the Cold Weather !!! ( and no gas ). Then again, I am not currently married, and there is nothing obviously amiss with MY current gas -supplier....hmmm. !I wonder if your average Ukranian woman would actually LIKE Henley-on-Thames ?? No harm in asking !! |
