Subject: RE: BS: Al Qaeda Training Manual From: Amos Date: 07 Sep 04 - 01:17 PM I find this quote of telling interest: "0 ye who believe! Fear Allah, and make your utterance straight forward: That he may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins. He that obeys Allah and his messenger, has already attained the great victory." Afterward, The most truthful saying is the book of Allah and the best guidance is that of Mohammed, God bless and keep him. [Therefore,]the worst thing is to introduce something new, for every novelty is an act of heresy and each heresy is a deception." Seems to me this is key in understanding why the bright star of Eastern civilization waned as it did. An institutionalized decree against innovation will certainly tend to throw a civilization into reverse. A A |
Subject: RE: BS: Al Qaeda Training Manual From: belter Date: 07 Sep 04 - 05:15 PM I heard on the radio the other day that Islam teaches to "defend the Innocent". I think thats OK, but I guess there's some disagreement about the deffinition of "innocent". |
Subject: RE: BS: Al Qaeda Training Manual From: Little Hawk Date: 07 Sep 04 - 05:28 PM It all depends on which Muslim you are talking to, and which angle he's looking at it from. Some Muslims are kind and harmless people, despite the vicious teachings emanating from certain fanatics in that religion. You could say this about Christians too. All warring groups end up killing innocents, but not too many kidnap school children as an initial bargaining point. A God that one is instructed to "fear" is either a false God...or a false understanding OF God...yet those same instructions to fear God can be found in the Christian Bible too, in numerous places. That's because they emanated from cultures where people were taught to fear the male patriarchs who ran the show. They made God in their own dominant male image. That is not God. Matter of fact, it's closer to some sort of demon than it is to God. God is Life. Life is not mean, vengeful or cruel, it is abundant and generous. Frightened, ignorant people are mean, vengeful and cruel. |
Subject: RE: BS: Al Qaeda Training Manual From: GUEST,Frank Date: 08 Sep 04 - 04:27 PM Remember that the majority of the terrorists on 911 were from Saudi Arabia. Does that say anything? Frank |

Frightened, ignorant people are mean, vengeful and cruel." What planet did you make those observations on, LH? I'll agree that life is not not vengeful or cruel. It's just life. Abundant and generous? Yeah, sometimes. There's the dog-eat-dog aspect and the love-thy-neighbour aspect, but to try to say one holds sway over the other is pretty naive. People are wonderful and people are assholes — often in the same bodies and in the same day. You just have to sort out which is which as you meet them and decide which you want to be. Assigning a category to others is a dangerous waste of time unless you have some basis for deciding which is which. I'll always expect the worst and hope for the best. You live longer that way and enjoy the surprises much more.... cheers, david |
