Subject: BS: Where the right went wrong From: kendall Date: 07 Sep 04 - 07:29 AM Yesterday, I watched MEET THE PRESS with Tim Russert. On his show he had Pat Buchanan and Senator Graham (Fl.) Pat B. was telling it like it is, not like that %$#^&$#@ in the White House. He said quote, "If we were not over there, they would not have been over here." Our support of Israel, plus our female troops on their holy ground are two of the REAL reasons they hate us. At last, a thinking republican! |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: Deckman Date: 07 Sep 04 - 08:55 AM I also watched the show Kendall, and I also listened to a local radio interview of P.B. Very interesting, to say the least. P.B. packs a LOT of power with the "right." It's going to be interesting to see the effect of this book. Bob |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: robomatic Date: 07 Sep 04 - 04:48 PM I was just mentioning this on the thread: What Conservatives Think of Bush. However, P B has a thing for Israel and the Israel Lobby. I don't think he's objective. It's true that the US supports Israel with a huge amount of money, this came about because the Soviet Union was propping up various Arab governments with a huge amount of money and weapons. Now the Arabs are sitting on trillions of $'s of oil. I think that the Islamic Fundies are having less problems with the US as a supporter of Israel, than they are having with Israel as a fairly open society with elected government, free airwaves, women who hold jobs and drive and vote and join the army, and an Arab minority which has more human rights than any Arab majority anywhere else. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: Bill D Date: 07 Sep 04 - 05:17 PM I also saw part of that interview, and I was startled to hear Pat B. saying "the war, as done, was a mistake"....Pat has led many nasty crusades in the past, starting with writing speeches for Nixon. I wonder what tilted him like that? |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: catspaw49 Date: 07 Sep 04 - 06:33 PM Nothing really Bill. Remember how popular it used to be to talk of the left and right from radical left to reactionary right? Generally it was thought of as a line but if you recall many suggested that it was instead a circle and at some point, the far left and the far right came together. They would agree on actions although for different reasons. I too saw Pat and I had also seen him on Bill Maher's HBO show, "Real Time with Bill Maher." If you get chance, watch that too. Here's a case where the far left and right merge in agreement although coming from totally differing philosophies. I almost couldn't believe myself cheering for old Pat! Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: DougR Date: 07 Sep 04 - 07:52 PM Bill D.: maybe he wants to sell his book. PB is a loose cannon who cannot get over the fact that he did not win the nomination of any party when he wanted to be president. DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: DougR Date: 07 Sep 04 - 07:55 PM Hey! I just got an idea! How about the next go-around somebody propose Ralph Nader as a candidate for president and PB for VP? Bobert, do you think the Green Party might be interested? :>) DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: Wolfgang Date: 08 Sep 04 - 06:19 AM The German far right would say quite the same and give the same reasons: They never liked Israel in the first place and they've always disliked women doing men's jobs. Wolfgang |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: kendall Date: 08 Sep 04 - 02:40 PM Pat B. tells it like it is Doug, get over it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where the right went wrong From: DougR Date: 08 Sep 04 - 06:00 PM Pat B. says it like he THINKS it is. With that I would agree, Kendall. DougR |
