Triumphs are still made in India, try one of the motorcycle sites, or the MotorCycle News webpage.

Triumphs are made in Hinckley which although it has a couple of good curry houses I believe is still in Leicestershire:-) I think you are getting mixed up with Royal Enfield, Liz, which are made in India.

I have just discovered that BSA Regal are making a 500cc single cylinder Gold Star as well. Seems worth a look. Now, anyone want to give me 7 or 8 grand...;-)

Cheers

Currently watching anything with two wheels that races.

I think you will find (wearing my pedants' hat) that they are Enfield India - not Royal - but we know wot you mean. There are still off-road bikes made here - BSA & Rickman replica type race machines and plenty of speedway bikes like Antig. I think CCM still make their BSA derived machines but I can't say I see many being raced.

Triumph aalso do a really ugly monster triple at 2.3 litres. I have seen one in the UK but they are a collectors restricted edition for the US market. A clever marketing ploy but - yuk.

I'm afraid CCM bit the dust a few months ago.

Ummm... the nearest I can source is from the other side of the world - a Britten - built in NZ.

Ooooh ...I'm getting all nostalgic here (not to mention an ....whoops sorry!)!

I sold my Japanese 600cc Hardly-Davidson clone recently (to pay for essential house repairs....gggggrrrhhh!) but fancy a vintage Velocette (as buying the holy grail Vincent Black Lightning 1952 would mean the family sleeping rough for many years to come!)

Peace

Britten used to race the TT - Battle of the Twins till Mr Britten lost his battle with cancer.

He won a few as I recall.

G'day Mr Red,

John Britten was one of a string of NZ TT Racers = who peaked in the 1950s. My favourite was Barry Briggs. Ahhh... for the throaty rumble of a Brit Bike - Last one we had on Stewart Island was a Triumph 650, and that went offshore a decade back. Mind you, it was wasted here - we have <20km of narrow winding road. The 'Trumpy' could have been sold One careful owner -- Never been out of 1st Gear.

Cheers - Sam

I've never owned a Brit Bike, but here are some snapshots of a few racing at Pukekohe NZ...
