There was the delightful , ditty type thread , located on the MudCat this morning regarding selling a Gibson and getting a Martin.

I'll be corn-swaggeled, autumn pussed if that thread did not disapper!!!

Sorry, GUEST --   Please buy the Martin.

If someone wants to use the words "Martin Gibson" as an excuse for an inter-Mudcat flame war, that's OK.

On the other hand, if someone wants to use the words "Martin Gibson" as an excuse to talk about guitars, it'll get deleted by the powers that be at Mudcat.

Look at what Joe allows and what Joe deletes. Maybe Carol is right about him afterall.

I used to think Mudcat was about music. Apparently not.

There's a thread about one of the Smothers brothers and his Martin guitar, isn't there?

If an ambiguous or poorly worded thread title in the music section (e.g. "Words to old song") gets changed to something more meaningful by a JoeClone, the person who started the thread often thanks the JoeClone, apologises for the poor wording, and explains that it was a lack of experience that caused the mistake. (Otherwise, it goes without comment.)

If an ambiguous or poorly worded thread title in the BS section gets changed by a JoeClone, someone usually whinges incessantly about the deplorable CENSORSHIP that occurs at Mudcat.

Consequently, Joe has declared a "hands off" policy towards BS threads, at least as far as the JoeClones are concerned. Fine with me.

Music forum? It seems the tail is wagging the dog here.

Untwist your knickers, Guest. If an innocuous thread disappeared, it's probably due to the recent crash and imperfect restoration.

Or maybe you forgot what it was called.

I just wish that bloody thread would go away. To see some of the people I like and respect most on Mudcat getting embroiled in a virtual bar room brawl, is one of the saddest things I have seen here. Let the thing die and never come back.

I think the Martin Gibson thread should be left where it is, as a permanent reminder of the "beast" in all of us.

And maybe it will serve to make us think twice before abusing guests and "trolls" without really reading what they say.

I think a lot of members got a buzz from squaring up to Martin Gibson, most of them were cowards ,believing themselves intellectualy superior to him. I dont include Carol C in that ....Ake

The "I Quit" thread will probably be closed, sooner or later, so the troublemakers can't resurrect it and reopen old wounds. I don't have time to check to see if somebody deleted some other Gibson thread. We delete most Martin Gibson threads as a matter of course, and allow certain ones to exist only under close observation.

This is one of those times when I feel like a bystander. Just some guy standing on the curb, hands in pockets, somewhat bemused, watching with some perplexity the swirling inexplicable weirdness around him. I don't get it. (I did contribute a post to the MG thread, but the thread was dispensible in my opinion, and I'm just as happy to forget it ever happened.)

It's old news. Let's find a new game.

Fine day for weather, ain't it?

Peace, Mooh.

Yes indeed Mooh,
It has been weathering all day here in Northern Maine.
A fine day for weather indeed.

That's really amazing! We're having weather here in Seattle, too! It's a small world, after all, isn't it?

In Pittsburgh whether we have weather or not, we manage to make do.
