I am off to Tunisa tomoorow morning for two weeks and i was wondering if there were any...
Ok I jest, but we get a lot of people going all over the world and meeting other mudcatters, me included. I think this is only one of the great things about the mudcat. So i just wanted to start a sneaky thread which said thank you! Cllr

(and of course if there are any mudcatters in Tunisa...)

I have been to Tunisia (Sousse, Hammamet, Monastir and Tunis) a few times and love the place. The local people are quite persistent with their begging but will leave you be if you are firm with them. Don't forget it is a 'third world' country and the average wage is real low. Even if not well off by your own countrys standards, you are like a millionaire to them...they see anyone who can afford a holiday there as extremely rich. Beaches are great, markets (souks) are cheap and if you get a chance..go to the flea(sorry camel) market. Also take an organised trip to the Bedouin feast out in the desert where you will be served national foods (which aint bad) and wine in bottles which arrive balanced on a waiters head. Also visit religious sites and the 'Star Wars' desrt setting. Loads to do there. Have fun. Best wishes, Mike.
PS their second language is French so if you speak it...even better.

Nah Morrocco is the property hot spot at the moment. £57,000 will buy you a fantastic beach front villa. 20 mins from Tangiers airport or fly to Spain for pennies and get the ferry over.

Tunisia is beautiful too though.

I have frollicked in Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. A bottle of whisky cost £84 the last time I was there. The more seasoned travellers traded in whisky, as the local currencies are rather worthless... a bit like Hull really.

When I lived in Tunisia I was 9 years old... but a very, very good friend lives there now. I'll see if I can get their email from my Mom.

I went to Hammamet on holiday 40 years ago, with my then girlfriend.
It was brilliant then - not sure what it is like now.

I almost sold my girlfriend for 12 camels and a packet of cigarettes. I was sorely tempted to set up business taking holiday makers on trips with my camels. However, she got upset and I wilted and didn't do it (sell her that is).
We went on a camel trip to the Bedouin Village and we got married Bedouin Style. Glad it wasn't legal, cause we split up 6 months after that :-)

We visited the village of Hammamet inside the fortress. Whilst we were walking along a narrow alley, this young girl came up to us and started saying, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Charlton etc etc. Then she said and signed that I could have it off with her sister for a small amount of money. My girlfriend wouldn't let me - don't know why :-)

Beaches and the hotels were brilliant at that time. They were also very honest as well. I think they used to chop their hands off for stealing.

The only thing that wasn't good, was the stink eminating from around the airport.

Port El Kantoui is nice but built purely as a tourist village.

The marina is the best place to charter a yacht though. You don't have to stay there.
