Here's something we haven't seen in a while. George W. has actually gone to a military gravesite. Having refused to show the coffins of the dead soldiers returning (Our disgusting Canadian Prime Minister has been forced to weasel out of that Made-In-America policy when the parents of the dead soldiers complained too much), George has at least had the good grace to finally show up at a grave on Memorial Day.

I'm never sure when threads with GeeDub in them are soliciting pro or con responses, but I am concerned that our 'disgusting Canadian Prime Minister' has taken to ending his speeches with "God bless Canada" ...

It's not good grace, though, PeterT. It's just posturing, hoping to shore up the crumbling approval ratings. If it were my loved one's grave, I'd be offended.

Stephen Harper is a lying weasel! He got caught by the parents of the soldiers and lied his way out of it. This is not the first time he has been caught lying. That "God Bless Canada" thing is truly gross. I also like the Made-in-Canada solution to climate warming (where have we heard this before? Why, it was Made-in-The-USA! A Made-in-Canada solution made in the U.S.A., which used to be a familiar refrain, but of course everything is now Made-In-China......)

(While we are on the lying and hypocrisy front.....)

Here's another....Lord Cheney was the graduation speaker at Natrona Co. High School in Casper, Wyoming, his alma mater. If I had been a student graduating there, I'd have refused to attend the ceremony. Just stood outside. 'Might' have had a sign.....I'm offended and it wasn't MY loved one or MY graduation.

Visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns on Memorial Day isn't exactly the same as visiting a grave site. Perhaps he could have taken a moment or two to visit the grave of one of the 200 or so Iraq War casualties that are buried at Arlington.

It's funny...even when The Shrub does something that should be natural and obvious for a president to do, it feels awkward and 'staged'.

His mannerisms, choice of words and facial expressions just do not convey sincerity--- though I have no doubt he must mean most of what he says. I don't understand how he can make a standard appearance and speech in honor of the fallen sound self-serving and cloying.

*sigh*....even Nixon didn't affect me like this.
