So, it looks as though Glasgow Rangers are going into administration. I wonder of their future and that of Scottish football. It occurs to me that the demise of Rangers, should it come about, may eventually strengthen the Scottish Game. Why? well, Celtic, although they'd flourish for the first few years, would soon lose income as punters, bored of the lack of competition in the league, stayed home. Similarly, this lack of competition would mean doing (even) worse in Europe, thus weakening the co-efficient, etc. And as Celtic weakened, the other teams would slowly start to catch up with them, and then the competition would start once more and Celtic plus whoever were now their equals - hopefully two or three teams - would all be playing for the title. Thus, Scottish football would slowly strengthen again.

Even if a league is more competative it wouldn't necessarily mean that it was strengthened! Surely to strengthen a league you need the lesser teams to improve rather than one of the top teams disappear and the other regress?

Maybe if they parachuted from airplanes and trained in swamps by eating snakes?

They don't need to, Glasgow's far worse than a swamp full of snakes. They just stay put and eat each other, or deep fried suet.

Glasgow is excellent, lived there for many years and still miss it. And what's wrong with deep-fried suet? Delicious! I do feel that if a footie team which dominates the League table has a period of not-so-good, it does give the others a chance to shine. (Man U?)

Its a sign of the times. Scottish football will never recover simply because they can't compete with their neighbours south of the border. Therefore what you have left is a not the length of a kipper's dick from amateur league. They can't keep their home grown talent in Scotland and can only attract international second raters. Long gone are the days when players played with some kind of allegiance or loyalty. Now they go where the money is.

Another Unionist monolith comes crashing down.
For decades the sectarian bastards were a bulwark against Scottish self determination, but now the union is sinking fast.

Go Wee Eck! no more foreign wars! "this is the new Scotland!

"Another Unionist monolith comes crashing down."

Three cheers for that. As the man in the Guardian said "After the loyalty she has been shown over the years, how can Her Majesty allow her Revenue & Customs to behave in this manner?"

Just the first of many clubs that will go under in the next few years. I think its all about greed, both by players and owners. I find it difficult to understand how any organisation can carry such huge debts and still pay wages which are totally out of line with the current economic climate. Bring back the maximum wage I say

They were 'the people' for a short time, circa the 50s. Now they are not. Society has moved on but they are still chanting their songs of hate.

We, who are not of 'the people', won't miss them one little bit.
