Subject: BS: Raparree attacked for ancestors' faults From: Rapparee Date: 22 Feb 12 - 11:08 PM I don't think I should be criticized because one of my ancestors was Sam Andreas. I never even knew him. |

Subject: RE: BS: Raparree attacked for ancestors' faults From: Rapparee Date: 22 Feb 12 - 11:38 PM Yeah. He died, well, he was hanged, in 1874. Poor old great-great-great-great Uncle Sam. All them calves running around without a brand on them and all he wanted to was make sure they knew they were wanted, like Sam was. |

Subject: RE: BS: Raparree attacked for ancestors' faults From: Nigel Parsons Date: 23 Feb 12 - 08:53 AM There was this man, dressed in medieaval armour, about to throw his wallet into the San Andreas Rift. ... He was "Dressed to kill" & "Generous to a fault". Or the man with an asbestos canoe? He was ready come Hell or high water! |

Subject: RE: BS: Raparree attacked for ancestors' faults From: ChanteyLass Date: 24 Feb 12 - 06:29 PM Huh! Rap thinks he's got it tough! One of my ex-husband's (and thus my son's) ancestors, Mary Dyer, was hung on the Boston Common during colonial times. The Puritans didn't like her trying to spread her Quaker beliefs. They kept kicking her out of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, but she kept coming back and preaching. The powers-that-were decided to silence her forever. They'd be surprised to know that there is now a statue of her on the grounds of the Massachusetts State House. Here's a photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wallyg/489050634/ |
