If you fancy a bicycle ride, a few beers, some singing, and loads of fun: meet at the Bleeding Wolf, Hale, at 11am (11.05am absolute latest), or The Plough & Flail, Mobberley at 12noon (12.10 absolute latest) this Good Friday morning. Don't forget your bicycle, sense of humour, voice and beer money. Most usually bring butties rather than queue for expensive (and not very good) pub grub. John

Haven't been in the Bleeding Wolf, Hale, for many years. We used to visit it on Friday evenings after Hale Folk Dance meetings. Hale Folk Dance club now meets as The Lemmings Reprieve, I believe. Caller/organiser is Andrew Shaw, one of the best callers there is.

Isn't there a song about the legend of Alderley Edge which includes Mobberley in the chorus???

From Macclesfield to Mobberley
If you have wares to sell
Don't take a path to the Wizard Inn
Or drink at the wizard's well

Nope... never 'eard of it!!

I'd love to join you, JohnJ,but as I'm still recovering from the 'flu I've had since I got home, best not. We have our music night in Llanfair C that night, though I shan't be contributing much to that, either.
Cheers, Bron.

I always thought it was don't leave the path at the Wizards inn?

Is it Pete Coe btw, Bernard?

Can't make it myself I'm afraid
a) Bike needs a good dose of looking at and
b) I'm going to be in Lancaster!

Good Luck anyway

Dave the Gnome: when / where are you going to be at Lancaster? If you fancy a sing, or worse still, a sing and a beer, let me know. John

Has to be Friday I'm afraid, John. A valiant knight am I and Hector is my name.... I'm Pace egging with the Abram Pace Eggers about the town all afternoon.

Might be at Bacup on Saturday and Wigan on Monday as well and not pace-egging at either!

Cheers

DtG

Aw bugger! I don't Pace egg no more, just do a lot of souling about in November. (Warburton Souling Gang). I am King George bold gallant and brave. Or a doctor. Or a Turkish Champion. Just depends who turns up! Shame you can't do the Mobberley 8 though. It's a really good do, but Saturdays usually have to be cancelled! Cheers, K Geor"£$%"£$^%$^ I mean: John

Have a good one, John and all... watch out for gates that jump out in front of you! With you in spirit (the drinking part of the event, at any rate). :0)
