The other day on "Today", they were filming from Chicago and did a piece on Chicago food. The piece ended up with Lester Holt being served an apple and cheese omelet. They didn't elaborate on this. Has anyone ever had one? Does anyone have a recipe? Thanks, Steve.

The big trick would be to select the right types of apple and cheese.

What gives you the idea that anyone at Mudcat cares anything about cooking? (other than the gazillion threads on the subject?)

Sour apples and sharp cheddar.

WYSIWYG - I don't think they mentioned the restaurant's name. The Today Show tends to rush through food segments, after all, there are vaccuous celebrities to interview and talk about.

Guest, those will do fine, Thanks, Steve.

Hi, Mary -
We don't allow Guests to start non-music threads. This is the existing thread that had a title that best fit your request, so I moved you over here.

I don't particularly like the texture of quinoa, but I like it a bit better when I cook it in chicken broth instead of plain water.

I like quinoa but I don't make it, I buy it full of herbs and veggies from the local health food store. It's supposed to be healthy, and I darn well hope it is, as I don't like THAT much.

I have the perfect recipe for pie crust - 2 cups sifted flour (white or whole ,as your choice), one half cup sugar and 1/4 cup oil (I use canola). Easy as pie (lmao) and delicious...apples, peaches, blueberries- whatever have you, goes great in this pie.

bake at 350 or so, time isn't fussy, just look and see that crust is golden brown.

But don't forget to sprinkle the top with brown sugar before it goes in the oven (to get a nice "glaze" on it ).

I've used quinoa in pilaf recipes and in place of barley in soups.

A pie crust without lard?? Goodness gracious me, mah Granny is a-gonna faint dead away!

A pie crust without lard is a pale imitation of a pie crust.
