Pass it over here, will ya . . . .

Frome LH's link:

"Police said they did not disbelieve people who thought they had been woken up by a chimpanzee.

They are looking for a suspect who is three-foot tall with a large amount of luxuriant dark hair.

Officers are advising residents not to leave large bowls of bananas in prominent positions and to leave their windows closed."

I didn't inhale . . . .

What surprises me is that the chimp apparently stole "small items of personal property, a mobile phone and parts of a stereo system"...not bananas or other fresh fruit.

That is really quite odd. Of course, you can pawn such items and buy bananas with the proceeds. Yeah, that must be it.

Maybe he's from Hartlepoole?

Singing old folks, young folks, every man and beast
Have come to see the Frenchie who's landed on the beach.
He's got long arms, a great long tail and he's covered all in hair.
We think that he's a spy, so we'll hang him in the square!

Fergus

I know there used to be (still are?) criminal gangs who sent children to do their stealing as they can squeeze through smaller spaces. Perhaps zoo keepers / circus trainers / crazed criminal scientists (delete as applicable) are now testing this out with chimps? Or perhaps this is the start of a much bigger plot. Does Charlton Heston know something we don't?

Chimps would make incredible second-story type break-in artists. They can climb almost anything. I can't wait to see what Chongo has to say about it when he returns. He's been away on a business trip.

if anyone knows a chimp willing to go after a guitar I've got my eyes on, I could go to a hundred quid for the job.

Well, I suppose it's a possibility. But he's not the only chimp out there, you know.
