Subject: Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho? From: Bob Lake Date: 09 Jul 98 - 03:28 PM Please only sincere replys. I posted this a few days ago and got 7 smart ass replys. I am disappointed in this response. All I want are the words for a friend. Thank you. |
Subject: RE: Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho? From: Mountain Dog Date: 09 Jul 98 - 05:51 PM Dear Bob, Actually, Joe Offer responded almost immediately to your original request with a link that takes you directly to the lyrics you requested: http://www2.hawaii.edu/~travisa/uke/TinyBubbles.html (It was the first in his series of 4 links marked "here" in his initial post following your request.) I have to say the level of discourse, erudition, humor and goodwill shown by practically all comers to the Mudcat is something I greatly admire and appreciate. In my experience over the last 18 months, Joe is unfailingly cordial and helpful; just one of many regulars who contributes freely and thoughtfully to this remarkable community. I hope the more you hang out here, the greater will be the appreciation you'll develop for the unique character of this place and the individuals who contribute so richly to it. |
Subject: RE: Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho? From: Barry Finn Date: 09 Jul 98 - 07:54 PM Bob, it seems there were 6 posts to your previous inquiry. Joe's response seems to have covered the question, the following posts look to be playful responses to Joe's original post to you, rather than smart ass posts, although it may look that way. There is alot of conversation, both serious, light & playful, that happens inside the threads. We had a one time a chat box, (hint) but no longer, so many of us talk within threads rather than post up a conversation. I don't think any were being rude to you or your posting, please don't take it that way. Non folk inquires, I think for the most part are treated with the same respect as any other, with the exception that there may be fewer responses. Anyway Bob, after being with this bunch for over a year I can say you were definitely were not being slighted. Barry |
Subject: RE: Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho? From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Jul 98 - 08:32 PM Bob, if you think you got slighted in the previous thread, you oughta see what we do sometimes to Dick Greenhaus, our Beloved Founder.... This is a folk music site, and some people get upset if too many pop songs get posted here. The unspoken arrangement that seems to keep people happy is that we post lyrics for folk songs, and links to non-folk songs. When I was in exile in the desert last month and stuck with Netscape 3, I found that links are a little hard to read in Netscape and don't come out bold and underlined like they are with Microsoft Internet Explorer - you just have to look at the text a little more closely to see the links with Netscape 3. The link to your lyrics is a little slow to respond, so I'll post the lyrics here. Go back to the previous thread, and you'll find that one of the links will take you to an actual recording of Don Ho singing the song. -Joe Offer- Tiny BubblesTraditionalC G7

Subject: RE: Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho? From: TamthebamfraeScotland Date: 16 Mar 01 - 02:09 PM Sydney Devine is a Scottish Country singer, and some people think that he is awful and others think that he's great. I come from Scotland and I think that Sydney Devine is all right. As I said he's the one who intruduced the song to Scotland as a matter of fact it's almost a Scottish Folk song.
