Kerry gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so 'important' to him. He announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3. Of course, the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Kerry camp was familiar enough with Scripture to catch the error. Fittingly, John 16:3 says, "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me." The Lord works in mysterious ways!"

Being as how the most horrendous crimes tend to be committed in the name of the various religions and God I sure wouldn't trust anyone who proclaims his "faith". And I'm sure God wouldn't want anything to do with them either.

This sounds like the first post in the "Kerry is lying" thread. And they both sound a little too tidy to be true. Could you give me a source for these bits of information? The first thread has one of these things ">" which leads me to think it's clipped from a chain-letter.

There are two ways of putting verses and chapters in order, just as there are for putting months and days. Just because you've always done it one way doesn't mean everybody has to fall in line.

Whichever way round, it's a good life-enhancing quote to pick:

"God so loved the world that he gave up his only-begotten Son, sonthat those who believe in him may not perish, but have eternal life.

Though perhaps that wasn't the one he meant - matbe it was verse 16, chapter three of John's First Epistle (the only one with chapters):

"God has proved his love to us by laying down his life for our sakes; we must be ready to lay down our lives for the sake of the brethren."

Instead of dwelling on who served honorably and who went AWOL, we should concentrate on the prospects of which candidate will best be able to stop the hemorrhage of decent jobs overseas, who is least likely to propose a new military draft, which candidate might be able to reestablish good relations with our allies, which candidate might be able to stop the torture of detainees, which might provide a REAL drug and health benefit to our elderly and our veterans, who will most probably end the lucrative tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations, and finally, which candidate might best be able to lower the deficit and bring our budget back to a managable level.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to vote, just asking all voters to think about the actions that might take place when the next President takes office.
