I would dearly love to find out out this woman...Miss Earnie/Ernie.

Any ideas? IF she is alive she will be about 80 now...she was an Army nurse in Japan @1947......and where else could I ask?

Sorcha, here's the website for the Army Nurse Corps Historian, and you can send an email to history@otsg.amedd.army.mil. That might be a good place to start.

Good luck!

Aloha,
Mark

My mom was there about then, and in recent years was interested in some of the reunions for women vets that were happening. She was a WAC. Alas, she died several years ago, so I can't ask her. But in addition to what Mark suggests, try searching on the terms for the women in the military (WAC, WAVE) and reunions.

If Earnie was her last name, you might check genforum's Earney Surname board. It's a long shot. I didn't get anything when I searched on "Army and/or nurse" but you could post a query and see if anyone answers.

Good luck!

kat

IF she was service, Army. Might have been non military...or volunteer, etc. Service families were not allowed in Japan then...so that is out. Yes, Art, I e mailed them.
