Cool Beans, love your parody!

This one is past its prime already, and probably not suitable for marches, but I'll share it here anyway...

MAPMAKER
To the Tune of "Matchmaker"
by Sheldon Harnick & Jerry Bock
new words by Vikki Appleton
© 10 Feb 2025

Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
make me a map
Do as I say, fill it with crap
Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
be a good schnook
And make me a rubbish map

Mapmaker, Mapmaker,
I’ll bring the lies
You bring the map
for us to revise
Fill it with swill
for I’m longing to be
The Caesar of all I see

For Bannon, make it outrageous
For Elon, add a swastika too
Don’t think of being courageous
Just follow the orders I give to you

Mapmaker, Mapmaker, make me a map
Do as I say, fill it with crap
Day after day in DC I’m a drone
So make me a map all my own...

Donald, oh Donald, have I got a map for you
The countries and towns
Are all named after you
So it’s a nice plan, a good map, true?
True
It ought to make you happy
Your ego satisfy
Although it prob’ly won’t
Don’t ask me why

Did you think we’d make some prints?
Well, I do the best I can
With no wisdom, no morals,
       no sense of discretion
It’s mad you’ve got a plan!

Mapmaker, Mapmaker make it so good
I’ll tell you how, I know we could
I am a genius but misunderstood
So… crown me a king
Groom me for doom
Find me a mind
Map me some crap
And make me a hapless map!

(Many thanks to Joe Offer for the idea for this parody.)

Still a good'n, YorkshireYankee. I hereby suggest a follow-up on the lines of the Diddums-in-Chief declaring that the international dateline shall henceforth go down the middle of the Atlantic, so that he can start any particular day of the week before those pesky Europeans get their mitts on it.

Damn damn damn: now I've got "When it's Tuesday in Italy, it's Wednesday over here" running through my head, without even a tune. *Argh*, in spades.

Came across this on YouTube, a link posted on FB by Janis Ian.

When That Man is Dead And Gone was written by Irving Berlin in 1941 about Hitler, but it of course fits perfectly today.

Nice song....SRS... Fits perfectly for Putin. Who will be caught, tried, convicted, in international court in the Hague. What a fool to enter the USA. Imagine the world wide bounty on his head.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I like Trump ... I Like Trump ... I LIKE TRUMP! Nice ring and rhythmos. Get used to it ... Six More Years!

On the Turning Away
Pink Floyd

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand

Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away

It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting its shroud
Over all we have known

Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite in a silent accord

Using words, you will find, are strange
Mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside

Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

This protest song Join ICE is short enough that transcribing it won't take long to the motivated listener. It has a hint of Arlo Guthrie.
