"Easy Rider" seemed to me at the time to be the film that made the first big movie statement by the boomer generation.

Dennis Hopper passed away at age 74.

Yeah.......Well, its been coming for a long while now. There was a lot more to his career than Easy Rider but the movie, though now dated, is an icon of a generation with characters that showed bits and pieces of many of us. We rode and died with Wyatt and Billy as our hopes or dreams often did as well.

There was a lot more to Dennis Hopper that I and many others enjoyed as well. Here's a pretty fair obit.......NPR Obit

Before this thread I started an Obit thread for Dennis Hopper.
It is still up in the Music section. Can a moderator merge these 2 threads?

Alice, there are some glitches causing problems. I have just posted to the Mudcat update thread, so Max knows. I will also PM Joe about it. I've posted this message at least three times and it wouldn't take. I tried to transfer your message and got an error instead. Nothing I've tried on this or the new dev.mudcat.org is working, so they will have to figure it out. In the meantime, if you don't mind, please repost your link. Sorry for the trouble.

An actor with a heck of a lot of good films under his belt. Never stereotyped.
You never knew what to expect other than a good performance.
Quack!
GtD.

He freaked me out in Blue Velvet. But my favorite scene with Dennis Hopper is in Easy Rider with him objecting "He's Captain America and I'm Billy." to the sheriff who arrested them for parading without a license. Classic Hopper.
One of those bad boys our moms didn't let us play with.
RIP
