Subject: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 30 Aug 21 - 06:50 AM I hope all 'Catters in the Deep South are safe and well. Katrina was bad, I hope lessons learned have been applied by the authorities. RtS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Aug 21 - 10:26 AM The maps show that a lot of people will get a lot of rain, well after the winds die down. The states that are adjacent to the path don't have the wind and rain, just the overcast and high humidity. It looks like New England will get a second drenching after Henri passed through a few days ago, this one coming from the west, not the south. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Donuel Date: 30 Aug 21 - 12:29 PM Forget hopes and prayers, the first thing is to clear roads/ Then send in gas trucks- hospitals will run out of generator fuel in 2 days- people without water and electricity need to be evacuated post storm to avoid cholora. Mobile cell towers are needed for calls for help. Next is food and water and finally clean up. Louisianna is mostly antivaxxers which complicates matters. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Joe Offer Date: 30 Aug 21 - 02:19 PM SRS, will your area have any effect from Ida at all? My stepson is in training in Dallas the next two weeks, and then will move to Midland TX. Wish him luck. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Aug 21 - 03:10 PM It's just humid as hell here right now, the result of the storm moving through to our east. Overcast weather, occasionally small thunderstorms. Midland will be dry and hot as usual. (If he has any extra time and a rental car, spending a couple of days to drive southwest down through the Davis Mountains is a nice departure from the Permian Basin.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: keberoxu Date: 01 Sep 21 - 10:24 AM What remains of Ida has traveled north and will soon be headed east. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Sep 21 - 10:25 AM It looks like the Mid-Atlantic is going to get drenched. Ida's high humidity has lingered in the Mid-South, however, so everyone can be miserable for a while longer. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Donuel Date: 01 Sep 21 - 11:21 AM It plumb missed DC in terms of bad floods. New Orleans and vicinity have no fuel electricity or toilets. After 2 weeks the desperation will get worse as even phones go dead. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: fat B****rd Date: 01 Sep 21 - 12:13 PM I spent a lovely couple of days in New Orleans in 2018. My best thoughts for the city and all those affected by Ida. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Bill D Date: 01 Sep 21 - 12:16 PM In our DC suburb in MD, we got quite a rain last night about 3AM..thunder woke me. Between 2 and 5 PM today... 2 hrs. from now, we expect a LOT more. I'm hoping my basement window sealing works. What I really hope is that it's not tested. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Ida From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 01 Sep 21 - 07:49 PM fingers crossed your good work holds. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Hurricane Ida - Aug 2021 From: Donuel Date: 02 Sep 21 - 11:47 AM Historic catastrophic floods from Philly, NJ and New York so far. Connecticut, Rhode Island and Boston are heavily damaged. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Hurricane Ida - Aug 2021 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Sep 21 - 02:05 PM The videos coming out of New York City are horrible - huge gushes of water racing through subway stations, buses with water up to the seats. No one will be able to get around for a while until lots of underground spaces are pumped out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Hurricane Ida - Aug 2021 From: Donuel Date: 02 Sep 21 - 05:07 PM I do not think car insurance will cover the 20 million cars stuck under flood waters. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Hurricane Ida - Aug 2021 From: Donuel Date: 02 Sep 21 - 07:40 PM cuz its a force majeure act of God. But is it really? acts of God from man made climate change? Acting on climate is a form of social justice but some argue they have freedom to deny global warming. They have the freedom to deny; science, vaccines, masks, history, even deny the majority point of view and laws with thugism and violence. There are multiple millions suffering from this storm but the title of this thread is tribal. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcatters and Hurricane Ida - Aug 2021 From: Ebbie Date: 03 Sep 21 - 04:27 AM The videos from New York City and New Jersey are heart wrenching. |
