Subject: RE: Obit: Barry Dransfield (1947-2026) From: Backwoodsman Date: 14 Jun 26 - 10:54 AM Very, very sad news. One of the best nights I’ve enjoyed at Grimsby FC a number of years ago, great singing and, of course, fantastic fiddling and guitaring from Barry. I understand he retired from performing several years ago to concentrate on his luthiery business in Hastings. The world suddenly seems a sadder place. RIP Barry. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Barry Dransfield (1947-2026) From: Tony Rees Date: 14 Jun 26 - 03:37 PM I first saw Barry and Robin playing support for Ralph McTell (I think they shared the same manager at the time) at Birmingham Town Hall around early to mid 1970. Very good show! I went there on the train from Coventry with my first girlfriend, I am guessing there was even a train back after the show... |

Subject: RE: Obit: Barry Dransfield (1947-2026) From: GUEST,Ray Date: 14 Jun 26 - 05:12 PM Sorry to hear of Barry’s death. Half of my all-time favourite duo. Are you sure that was Leeds Tony? The stage/equipment doesn’t look familiar. I know you were there and I remember the weekend well - it’s the only place I’ve ever been asked to shut down the PA whilst they wired in an ice cream van! It would have been Stage 2 - the weekend on Stage 1 featured the likes of Georgie Fame, Moving Hearts, Neil Innes and Paul Brady. |
