Very, very sad news. One of the best nights I’ve enjoyed at Grimsby FC a number of years ago, great singing and, of course, fantastic fiddling and guitaring from Barry. I understand he retired from performing several years ago to concentrate on his luthiery business in Hastings.

The world suddenly seems a sadder place. RIP Barry.

I have a photo of Barry + Robin from 1973 which for some reason I had not previously added to his Wikipedia page before, but it is there now... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Dransfield . RIP Barry.

I first saw Barry and Robin playing support for Ralph McTell (I think they shared the same manager at the time) at Birmingham Town Hall around early to mid 1970. Very good show! I went there on the train from Coventry with my first girlfriend, I am guessing there was even a train back after the show...

Sorry, 2 posts above I said my photo was 1973, that is incorrect, is was 1983 at the Leeds Festival that year.

Sorry to hear of Barry’s death. Half of my all-time favourite duo.

Are you sure that was Leeds Tony? The stage/equipment doesn’t look familiar. I know you were there and I remember the weekend well - it’s the only place I’ve ever been asked to shut down the PA whilst they wired in an ice cream van!

It would have been Stage 2 - the weekend on Stage 1 featured the likes of Georgie Fame, Moving Hearts, Neil Innes and Paul Brady.

Sad news, "The Rout of the blues" was a favourite album back in the day.

I don't think I saw Barry live although I did see Robin once.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Barry Dransfield was born in Harrogate and I saw him and his brother live many times when they played around this area——always a treat.
