This Mudcat morning began far too early, as did yesterday's... I never did get back to bed yesterday, nor do I expect to, today. Short sleep is not helpful to strokebrain, and today includes a long drive (I normally let Hardi do half) on my own.

Yet somehow I know that I will reach my destination safely, have the presence of mind to handle all the many unknowns arrival will hold, and connect the fragments of yesterday's prep and packing up to the events I planned. [shrug] The Grace of God will just have to cover it. "Grace! Hey Gracie, can ya cover me up, I'm cold!" Old Gracie lumbers over to pull the covers higher, dear friend that she is. I wish Faulkner could come with me! Ah well, there are cats planned for Friday night.

I may get back online before I take off, or I might not and leave earlier than planned while the Force (clearest brain of the day) is with me.

In any case, Catters, do post a brief snapshot of your morning-- your MudMorning-- i.e., whatcha doin' while Mudcatting. Particularly, what are your 5+ senses experiencing?

~Susan

your morning is night here - does that count? it's cool, there is a frog croaking out the back, and this evening my co-op had its AGM. we've had a good year. Tonight, I sewed and watched a doco about Barack Obama.

I feel full of hope, from the other side of the world, and send happy thoughts to you in your Mudmorning, before I go to sleep.

gnite

I am getting some great video of a pair of crows sitting on the wire in the rain against a backdrop of pines heavily laden with snow. The male is preening the female's neck feathers.

A foot of snow. Lost my keys in a snowdrift last night. Jacqui and Kendall laughed at me. Found them afte sifting through snow for an hour.
The plow poop is eight feet high and it is only January.

Bitch Bitch Bitch

But I woke up in a nice warm bed with a refrigerator full of food and clean clothes (not in the refrigerator) and good friends. Life is good.

Snow is bad...

Spending the morning watching the show out in the front yard with the birds around the feeders. Saw a brown creeper and a red-bellied woodpecker, neither of which have I spotted here before. The bluebirds are being agreeable and perching close to the window, and a nuthatch and downy woodpecker just had a bit of a dust-up at the suet feeder.

Good morning, Susan.

I hear the snowblower chugging by the front windows as my True Love does the heavy snow clearing. Meanwhile the smell of oranges and that of lemon-honey tea signals a rare cold blooming in me. My currently favorite mountain dulcimer is on my lap and I hear the bird clock in the kitchen blending with dulcimer chords and outside chickadees.

As soon as I can breathe I'll shovel a path to the chicken house where I will stomp out the rubber bowls of frozen drinking water (crack, crash), replacing it with warm, fresh drinking water. I'll add a sprinkle of electrolytes and a drop of glycerin to the water- an experiment, meant to delay freezing.

Today they also get warm oats mixed with cod liver oil (can you smell it from there?) and shaved suet to supplement their usual fare of egg layer pellets, sunflower seeds, and a scattering of cracked corn. I'll talk to them, calling each by name, and they will answer, so their sounds will be added to the music of the morning.

Enjoy the new day, everyone,

maeve

Last night was so wet and windy I wondered if I'd ever get to sleep. George's temperature is back to a normalish level and at the moment I'm listening to the blissfull sound of my 3 little angels having their afternoon nap. My cat is curled up on my knee purring gently and warming my legs.

Fortunately (LOVE marriage), Hardi's been watching my back again, making sure I had road-resources and coming home at noon to help me finish loading and see me off. The 1/4 caff-tab, plus the 1/2 hour chair-doze, plus sun pouring in didn't hurt, either.

Even the hockey games I worries about missing will be on hold till I get back-- for the All-Start break, yay!

I can do this!

Mine involved sleeping late, still feeling sore and achey but I still loaded the car up with a couple of loads of garden rubbish for the tip. The pile does not look any smaller.

I succumbed and bought another tray of 'may pull through with a good gardner and a lot of TLC' sale plants and a climbing rose that hopefully will cover the rather raw looking back fence. Still can't find a panel the right size for the gap though.. I may have to buy a whole one and cut it to size.

The parakeets were sitting outside their cage looking puzzled when I got home--actually on top of their cage. They had the half-sheepish, half-proud look of eleven-year-old boys found out down the road at night. The sliding doorway, meant just for changing food bowls, had been left raised just high enough for them to squeeze out through. But evidently they could not imagine how to reverse the process. When I opened the main cage door for them they both gratefully zoomed back in and huddle din front of their Main Mirror, discussing their strange adventure.

Don't know when you will read this, Susan, but hope you had (and will have,) safe journey.

I have had a rare three-day weekend that I didn't know I had coming - I didn't learn until 5:30 Friday that my company was closed today and had a mad scramble to reschedule clients. Chores were neglected, but not chores that will cause major problems for being neglected a day or so. Got to watch birds at the feeders throughout the days, which is a rare delight, and an informative one. And have had this evening to spend time on the 'Cat that is more than just a dash in and dash out!

To echo Sinsull from earlier in the day....life is good.

Bobert - ever since Ghost Hunters hit the airways plumbers are the latest sex symbol. Then Joe the Plumber raised you all to godliness. Embrace your pipes, man!

But keep your bum cleavege to yourself - there are things that women of a certain age don't need at that time of the morning.

It depends entirely upon the bum...

Was exposed to one the other day... not pretty at all. Fair took my appetite for the window cleaners away.
