Thanks to everyone for their kind messages. Had a brilliant birthday with friends and 'Lunch in the garden'. For those of you who have never had 'lunch' on a birthday with me, it starts at midday with Pimms, lots of it in punch bowls which we just have to fathom first! Then more nibbly bits before lunch itself [a veritable feast] and then Pudding! This years was meringue, a litre of clotted cream ice cream, half a pint of clotted cream and pounds of blueberries, cherries, raspberries and strawberries, all standing over a foot tall and accompanied by champagne. Then an afternoon of just being in the garden with friends, followed by afternoon tea and rum and shrub to round off the day. The last one of these on this scale ended up moving to the Elephants Nest and became our weekend of singing which then moved to the Fox and Hounds and became a folk festival!
