Subject: Lyr Add: DID YOU EVER LOVE SOMEBODY? From: Ebbie Date: 17 Apr 02 - 02:05 PM Might it be this one? DID YOU EVER LOVE SOMEBODY?
Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever lay your head down?
Have you ever prayed the day would come?
And if you did,
Did you ever love somebody?
Did you ever love somebody? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Nigel Parsons Date: 18 Apr 02 - 04:03 AM I don't think that's the one being saught, As it's Nancy Sinatra, I think it will be the one with the tag line "Well I just ask you, 'Did you ever?', 'All the time'" |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Jim Dixon Date: 21 Apr 02 - 09:42 AM I think Nancy Sinatra recorded this with Lee Hazlewood, and maybe Hazlewood wrote it. I haven't found the lyrics, though. Can you quote a line from it (other than the title)? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Nigel Parsons Date: 21 Apr 02 - 12:18 PM "well how about..." "No, that would be much, harder" "Does your father know, I'll Bet"- "Oh no I haven't told him yet"-"Well I just ask you, did you ever?" - "All the time" The first two are parts of lines, The latter 2+ lines are continuous, but switching voices where the quote marks stop & re-start. Just from memory! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Lanfranc Date: 21 Apr 02 - 05:43 PM I have located a few secondhand singles, but no lyrics. I believe it was written by Lee Hazelwood, who was the alternate voice on the Nancy Sinatra record. Hope someone comes up with the lyrics, I feel a parody coming on otherwise! Alan |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Nigel Parsons Date: 21 Apr 02 - 07:52 PM Lanfranc: The arrival of the original does not preclude a parody. In fact, a parody is made easier if the original can be seen. This gives the opportunity to re-use rhyme schemes and actual rhymes, with subtle re-workings! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: C-flat Date: 22 Apr 02 - 10:54 AM I remember some of the lines; "Can I fix you one small..." "No thanks I just had one" "Well how about a nice....." "Well that would be just fine" "I've got just the thing for us....." "No, I'm afraid I'll miss my bus" "Well I just wondered, did you ever...." "All the time" Sorry I don't remember more. C-flat. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: alanabit Date: 23 Apr 02 - 10:03 AM Those are the lines I remember too. It was Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra made the gags work by never quite finishing a line. I rather liked it. It must have been sometime between 1970 and 1972. "Did you ever count how many..." "Eight or nine.." is another line which springs to mind. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: did you ever by Nancy Sinatra From: Nigel Parsons Date: 24 Apr 02 - 06:06 AM Confirmation: (Guinness British Hit Singles 11th edition); This was in the U.K. charts from 21 Aug 1971 for a total of 19 weeks, reaching No. 2 and was billed as Nancy and Lee |
