I stopped listening to Bill Clinton a loooonnnngggg time ago. Didn't you? Or do you actually believe what he says?

How about you, beardedbruce... are you actually willing to believe anything Clinton says? And if you believe what he's saying in this article, shouldn't you also believe everything else he says?

CarolC

If he said it was daylight, I would get a flashlight.

But why shouldn't he be happy? Now he can run for first lady...

well, I for one still listen to Bill Clinton! He is one of the best informed, astute, well spoken politicians ever to hold high office. He can analyze, explicate and pontificate.

He has his flaws & weaknesses, and I consider the subject matter and consider carefully before I accept anything he says, but I sure do listen. If he had kept his pants zipped, he would be revered by many now.

My decision to stop listening to Bill Clinton had absolutely nothing at all to do with his sexual pecadillos, and everthing to do with his lying to us about the peace talks at Camp David and Taba, and his presiding over the use of depleted uranium on civilian population areas in the Balkans. And it's too bad, too. Because I used to think he was the greatest president of my lifetime.

Marc Rich thinks Bubba is a cool dude.

That's why he helped Hillary get elected through his wife.

"presiding over"? Does that mean that Clinton planned, oversaw and understood the use of depleted uranium shell casings? (This is the first I had heard about it!..I had go searching...)

As I read about it, it sounds like it was a clear mistake to do, though an obvious choice for military types who like to increase their fierpower. I just don't see any immediate data that Clinton directly approved the use...or who advised him on it. I know that we can find bad decisions by ANY president...often based on bad advice and inaccurate data. I'd welcome further info on this..(as I continue to read about it).

I still say I would listen to 'ol Bill, without stating what I'd do with waht I hear.

He was the Commander in Chief. He was also a president who tended to micro-manage things. He appointed the Secretary of Defense who most certainly ought to have told him about it, since the use of depleted uranium violates the Geneva Convention. I hold him ultimately responsible (buck stops here... sound familiar?). And there's still the issue of Camp David and Taba.

I've lost faith in the Clintons too, Carol, sad to say...though I still kind of like Bill's style in some respects. I'm mad at Hillary because she blocked the manufacture or sale of Hillary Clinton blow-up dolls and I can't get one for love or money. Not even on Ebay! I have no idea how the hell she managed to do that, but she obviously has MAJOR PULL in high places, and I find that scary.

However...if Bill Clinton does get to be "First Lady" or "First Gentleman" or whatever the hell it would be called...maybe he could get to dress up in women's clothing at the inauguration and get a big thrill! :-)

I say we appoint Shatner to clean up the whole damn mess right now! A good phaser blast across Dubya's bow would smarten him up fast.

I have to say that I always took "ultimate responsibility" with a grain of salt. It's technically true, as it must be, but often useless when looking for a way to place blame (OR give credit!)..

"The buck stops here" was useful in describing where certain very important decisions, like dropping the A-bomb, ended up-- but doesn't cover all the decisions which never really get to the TOP. I still don't know how much Bill knew when the decisions were being made, or how deeply his involvment was felt.

As to Camp David and Taba, that can of worms would have taxed the wisdom of Solomon to come up with a solution. How can ANY American president guide a discussion when the opposing parties have almost totally irreconcilable views? Clinton may not have juggled those balls well, but juggling when you have two sides with nine different opinions yelling at you is not easy. Want the job? (Yeah...*grin*, I suppose you just might..me, I'm a coward)

He lied to us about it, Bill. I have a very big problem with that. His lies cost lives.
