Someone across the Pond I'm sure can identify her. First name is Jackie and she does a wonderful job of Iris DeMent's song.

Remarkable. She sings the song to perfection, adding grace notes and bending them here & there while she calmly reads the words!
Has all the marks of a studio vocalist but I've never heard of either of them.

Looks as though her last name is Abbot and she used to be with The Beautiful South band. Beautiful voice! Thanks, Adrien.

Click on 'more info' and it says her name is Jacqueline Abbot. The name doesn't ring a bell with me. The group is 'Beautiful South'.

As for the link, your name ended up after the address, where the link title would be if you put one in there.

She left that group a number of years ago, apparently. I don't find much recent, but I agree, she has a very nice voice.

I'll be honest in saying I never noticed the more info spot on You Tube before. How unobservant of me. Dah!!.

Jim, if you have never heard of Iris before you should have a look and listen to some of her numbers. Although her voice can be a bit annoying to some I find it to be very haunting. She is a very worthy writer and controversial one as well. I am told that in some areas of the States her music is not played due to some of her statements she make about the church and religions. Maybe some one could confirm this as being true or not.

Wow, Adrien, that is one great version of the song with great voices and harmony!I have never heard of her either but rest assured I'm going to listen to her more.I find she sounds something like Iris Dement, whose voice I love.

I would guess that Jeri knows about Iris. Jeri knows about 'most any good music going. I think she meant she hadn't heard of the songbird you have introduced to us here.

Iris is married to Greg Brown. My daughter introduced me to her music years ago and I have her Our Town CD. Love it, though sometimes I am not quite in the mood for her voice. She is excellent, nevertheless.

Scratch that. I'm going to have go dig out the CD cover and see what the name of it really is...I see on Iris' website she doesn't have a CD called Our Town. I know that song is on my CD though!:-)

Kat , Our Town is on the c/d called Infamous Angel which is just fabulous.
Interesting Blank.
No confirmation as yet to the question if Iris was banned from some radio stations.

Well this isn't getting the work done.
Went back to You Tube to hear some more and I've sat here for 20 minutes, listening.
No mistaking who her influences are and that's fine.
Same attitude as Alison Krause. i.e. More into performing than dressing up.
Breathing was out a bit in one of the live shows but that can happen.
She's a keeper.
Real talent.
Iris Dement eh?
Must be French.
