For those waiting in suspenders for the answer to my question (that's you, Kernow John), here's, perhaps, the beginning of the answer -- the band was "Larry Unger & Friends". I shoulda known. That guy can write weird and/or wonderful waltzes! There are some samples from his waltz album at efolkmusic.com. Check out "Thirty Two" if you've ever asked, how do you play a waltz on the (five-string) banjo? (More on Larry Unger. Unfortunately, my mystery waltz is not one of those with samples at that web site. Still don't have the definitive answer, but I'll let you know when I do. 'Course, if anyone's got the "Curvy Road to Corinth" or "Reckless Reel" books, you could check 'em for me... ~ Becky in Tucson |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Name this waltz From: Desert Dancer Date: 20 May 02 - 03:47 PM Back from a great dance weekend (May Madness in Prescott, Arizona) with the Reckless Ramblers: Larry Unger on guitar and banjo, Nat Hewitt on fiddle and guitar, Sam Bartlett on mandolin and tenor banjo, and Ginny Snowe on bass. Doubly confirmed that Larry wrote the waltz. It's been renamed "Cumberland," and appears on the new Reckless Ramblers cd, Lowdown Hoedown. I bought that cd, the waltz cd, and Uncle Gizmo, 'cept that was between dances, and when I ran off to join my partner in the line I left the cds on the stage!
