Subject: RE: BS: Brazilian recipes for gruel. From: beardedbruce Date: 19 May 04 - 05:13 PM http://www.gcuobaonline.org/casava%20is%20up2.htm for some info... In Brazil, Goma, a manioc starch, fills the stomach. In fact, the manioc root may be viewed as the symbolic plant, which, when made into a gruel, fills babies' stomachs for mothers who can no longer provide breast milk because of chronic malnutrition. This gruel is used by the middle and upper classes as a traditional satisfier for hungry babies. Comidinhas, little foods, are often classified as luxury foods for the rich and filling foods for the poor (Scheper-Hughes, 1992). sorry, best I can do.... and nice try. |

It was about an heroic Ukranian peasant who fed the poorest people in the land. They called the movie "Gruel Hand Uke". |

Subject: RE: BS: Brazilian recipes for gruel. From: Bill D Date: 21 May 04 - 10:54 AM what we have now is a self-defeating hypothesis....all the quirkier minds here are now on the lookout for threads with obscure and off-the-wall titles. TRUE creativity would concoct a thread title that didn't push ANY buttons, but I suspect that would be quite difficult under the circumstances. |
