Subject: Red Falcon (Ron Baxter) From: GUEST,Bernadette & Graham (Trouble at' Mill Date: 31 Dec 25 - 01:16 PM I’ve heard my friend, Ron Baxter, (Artist, Poet, Songwriter and well known character on Fleetwood Folk Club and Festival scene) sing this, in his own inimitable style, a couple of times. Both times those last two verses brought a tear to my eye. I asked Ron if he would mind if Bernadette & I had a go at doing something with it. He gave me a free hand. (We have arranged a new tune). Hope you like it. The Trawler ‘Red Falcon’ (Fleetwood) was lost in December 1959 – Ron was a boy, at the time, he remembers the disaster. Subject: RE: Red Falcon (Ron Baxter) From: Beer Date: 31 Dec 25 - 02:50 PM Now that is a tear jerker. Reminds me of the many tragic folk ballads that were written long ago. Most were written by actual events that had taken place. Like this one. Adrien |
