There is a week and a 2 days to go for pubs to change their licences into new local authority type licences (including entertainment).

Locally in East Yorkshire only 30% of City pubs and 56% of rural area pubs have applied.

If the Government sticks to its guns, and it says it will, there are ging to be a lot of unquenshed thirsts by Christmas (and bankrupt publicants).

This may be the grand plan to kerb binge drinking! (except that Supermarkets have got their act together and are applying for 24 hour selling.

Is that pubs or all licences premises? A lot of papers have been making scare stories out of when, nationally, the ones who have not got around to applying are restaurants. You are more likely to find yourself unable to buy a Cobra with your curry than to find that your local has been forced to shut.
