Unfortunately, Kat, this country is in America's back pocket. I hope customs and immigration turn him back. However, Teribus is right. He won't be arrested. I bet some of the protestors are, though.

No, he won't get arrested. The article is right: Calgary should be like a home away from home for him.

Still, isn't nice to see that the Royal Canadian Air Farce's legacy of the cannon lives on? ((((warm fuzzy glow)))

March 17, Tuesday, 2009 @ 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM:George W. Bush Go Home Rally!! and Conclusion of the Trial - "The People vs George W. Bush"

[Shoes can be dropped off at Earth's General Store, 10832 Whyte Avenue, Edmonton, AB 780-439-8725]

George Bush's first international speech after finishing his presidency will be to the Calgary Rotary Club on March 17th, the sixth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and the Calgary's activist community would like to give him the welcome he deserves.

There will events throughout the week leading to Bush's visit but for
those outside Calgary we wanted to give you a chance to give him his due welcome. To that end the local activist community in Calgary is asking people from around Canada to send us your old shoes so they can be a symbol to boot Bush Out of Canada! We are hoping people will send shoes in from across the country to show solidarity.

Also, people can include notes or letters with their shoes and we will post them with the wall of shame or attach them to the shoes at the rally for people to see.

The sent in shoes will be displayed around the perimeter of the "George Bush Go Home Rally" and the conclusion of his trial. We are also going to build a shoe-cannon that will fire shoes at a picture of Bush.

The CUPW, Canadian Union of Postal Workers, Calgary Local has
enthusiastically agreed to have their Calgary office as a location where shoes could be sent and stored:

CUPW -Calgary Local
109 - 5621 - 11 St. N.E.
Calgary AB.
T2E 6Z7

After the rally, some shoes will be sent to George Bush's best friends and local MP's, Stephen Harper and Jason Kenney. We will donate the remaining ones to an appropriate clothes bank.

Hey, can we have a thread about burning crosses on the White House lawn, too?

I'm not in Canada but here goes: If they arrest Bush it will be good for everyone involved. Because then we could invade Canada. That's something we've wanted to do for a long time anyway. They could become the 51st state. But most of all it would be good for the economy. We have about 25 National Guard members that aren't stations in Iraq. So we have the troops. And after the invasion is complete we could send relief to Canada - so their economy would benifit too. Then after we get the population tamed we could merge the two economies and get rid of their funny money.

Besides - we need a place where we can send all of the AIG executives.

NO WE WILL NOT ARREST HIM!
If we did we would have to keep him here longer than most Canadians desire. Godspeed George and don't let the door hit you on the arse when you leave!

so Splitting the Sky has been released on $500 bail and will appear in court March 25 on charges of assault and obstruction.... he was beaten while in custody, and intends to turn the tables on the Feds in a showtrial, charging that Canada is complicit in war crimes for breaking the law and allowing a suspected war criminal into the country in the first place... and it's not like he's a rookie to the legal process after the lengthy Attica trials and Gustafsen Lake...(most expensive in BC history)

As an American UnitedStateser, I find the idea appealing, but I'm not engaged in holding my breath until it happens!

And what would be the charge? Has Canada filed a charge against Bush? Perhaps I missed in on Fox News.

you an get a lot more info at www.warcriminalsout.com
by arresting STS, and charging him, it will give him the occasion to turn the focus back on the Canadian Gov't for allowing GWB to enter the country...which, I feel, will be watched closely.... STS knows more about international and constitutional law than all the Queen's lawyers in Cowtown.. plus former US Attorney General, Ramsey Clark is one friend and supporter who is following the situation... it'll be interesting...

I sure will... like I said, he's a dear friend and and has a warrior spirit... a veteran and survivor of many injustices, smear campaigns and attempts on his life through the years...

Ron, let him know that there are some of us out there pulling for him. Is there a defense fund set up for people to contribute to if they wish?
