Hi y'all!

I go camping a lot to folk festivals & other musical events.

Some campsites have either inadequate or totally non-existant toilet facilities.

Under these cicumstances in the past, I've usually taken along a bucket & p bottle to overcome these difficulties.

As I'm getting longer in the tooth - me knees & other joints ain't as flexible as in days of yore, & squatting & rising from such a low level can be really difficult, so I've been on the lookout for more amenable contrivances.

I found this US site:
http://www.safetycentral.com/sanitation1.html

which has a number of most convenient looking portable conveniences,

this:
http://www.safetycentral.com/porfoltoil.html

& this:
http://www.safetycentral.com/inflateapotty.html

& this:
http://www.safetycentral.com/noname145.html

I searched multiple UK sites for these items but just drawn a total blank.

Anyone know where I can buy any of these items in UK?

these are less portable but perhaps something like a Bio-Let
made for cabins or boats could work? some are non-electric.
www.biolet.com

certainly a place that sells caravans, or r.v. type vehicles
would have a source for a similar item. The snap-on bucket
thingies look like they could work.

Mr. Happy, we have one in a pile of stuff to go to the recycling/giveaway center. Nothing wrong with it, I just hate them. It's like the Coleman one in your first link. I don't know what it would cost to send over, but you are welcome to it, if you want to pay the charges. I don't think it weighs much. I'll ask my Rog, tonight.:-)

oic, its this one:

Thanks again for your kind offer, but that one's much too big.

I've only a Micra & cargo space is really premium, that's why I was after a folding one.

Cheers,

Mr H

~ 5 gallon industrial bucket
~ kitchen size garbage bag placed inside
~ commercial hardware store toilet seat placed on top
~ sit and squeeze
~ remove toilet seat - tie knot in plastic bag - dispose in next convenient container.

Very similar to the LaughKats - but much easier - and within a Happy budget.

Guest ... but where is the little jet of 94 degree (F) water that's supposed to come up and do the cleaning? What do you want me to do ... ROUGH IT? CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson

That's okay, Mr. Happy. I'd rather do the bucket and toilet seat, myself, anyway! Good luck!:-)

I haven't seen the folding jobs in UK since our family had one 40 years ago, but they were available then, so may be so still.

If you do find a source I suggest that you check the dimensions before purchase, as my recollection is that the seat is rather small & uncomfortable, and that the height above ground level is only about what you would achieve by using a bucket.

This site may be of interest if you find the space for something more substantial Thetford UK Website

The Thetford stuff is generally good. It's used by a lot of campers in the US, when you want to set up for extended usage. Most of it is a bit on the bulky side for hikers, but fine if you've got a way to carry it.

I don't have a link at hand, but the "Mountaineering Clubs" commonly have links to sites with minimalist accessories - easy to carry, functional, and with the "products" neatly packaged to portage out. Climbers usually are pretty conscientious about the "leave no trace" philosophy, but don't - for obvious reasons - want to carry anything very bulky or heavy.

A Scottish supplier for something close (but I haven't seen the product)

Looks as if it might do the job, £30- inc. p&p, vat, and 8 bags.

There is a very camp toilet at Picadilly station. Is that what you were asking for? :-)

Cheers

i already explained above my difficulties with stiff joints & bending down, so your suggestion doesn't offer the convenience, even though it may be lavish!

Glad I could help, I think I'm slowly getting the knack of searching for stuff on the net.

An interesting challenge that one, I came across more bizarre forms of khazi than I ever dreamed could exist, including one that you were expected to fasten to a vehicle towbar.

'There is a very camp toilet at Picadilly station. Is that what you were asking for? :-)'

Also yr suggestion wouldn't b very practical 2 drive all the way to central Manchester from wherever, all the time bursting to go!

It'd really b a 'Loco-motion'!!

Thanks for all help folks, it seems a lotta mither obtaining these devices, so I've decided to make me own, based on bog seat+ folding stool or chair at requisite height for own needs.
