Subject: BS: Tea Party Boycott list
From: Jack the Sailor
Date: 18 Jul 12 - 12:02 PM

I came across this today. I wrote Molson Coors and told them I would not be buying any more of their beer. Apparently they give money for every beer sold to the "Castle Rock foundation." I just wrote Molson Coors and told them that I would not buy any more of their product as long as they were involved in Conservative US politics.

Yes, Adolph Coors, patriarch of the family founded the Heritage Foundation. And did you see that most of their beer pretty much sux? Oh, wait, NOT Blue Moon! Ohno!!

Walmart, of course, because of how they treat their employees, their suppliers, the environment, and so on.

And did you know? Whole Foods!

When you list them all, it's hard to boycott everyone who is "not good." But...how about asking your investment company or pension manager to keep your money out of certain companies?

Saul

I think I'll continue using Quilted Northern toilet paper. I don't use any of the rest now.

Well, I dunno. I'd boycott a company if it were involved in acts of oppression. Boycott strictly because a firm supports conservative causes? I don't think so.

Georgia Paper is the only one we will have trouble boycotting. If we find alternatives in a similar price range, I'll post it.

Whole foods record is mixed they are doing good and bad and have no competition for our money.

In North Carolina at least, Walmart is pretty much on par with other retailers for the treatment of employees etc, It is a "right to work" State. We do buy elsewhere when viable other factors being equal.

Bobert,
Home Depot is being actively boycotted and attacked by The American "Family" Association and AFR for "coming in on the wrong side of the culture wars" So I would have to say that their record is mixed. I don't mind execs having a political point of view when they don't use my money to spread it.

I have to say that I will not stop watching Fox Movies, for free when I can, that do not have a political slant and Fox TV shows like the Simpsons often undermine the Fox News Agenda. Whereas shows like "24" promote it.

But Coors and the Kochs seem to have no redeeming qualities so far as I can tell.

Joe how do you feel about giving someone money to use against you?

I am boycotting the Kochs because the are taking my money and using it against me politically. Those two men, as citizens have a right to free speech. Their money does not. I will do what I can to see that they are not using my money to undermine my rights.

Rapparee: "I think I'll continue using Quilted Northern toilet paper. I don't use any of the rest now."

Bob Dylan addressed your situation:

"His clothes are dirty but his hands are clean
And you're the best thing that he's ever seen"

...and for God's sake....lift the seat!!!

Jack, Mr Labatt will be happy to get our business. Thanks for the heads-up on this.

Hi,

(Hm, making one's money speak through boycotting people for making their money speak ... Would that require boycotting oneself as well?)

Just curious, but: Translated to plainspeak, what does "coming in on the wrong side of the culture wars" mean?

Mysha:

1. Corporations are NOT people.
2. Money is NOT speech
3. A boycott is not buying an election.

The "wrong side of the culture wars" means not being right-wing fundagelical "Christians"[sic] who want to establish a theocracy and impose "Christian"[sic] law on everyone.

As mentioned above, the Koch brothers' properties are so pervasive it is difficult to avoid them.

I find it kind of funny that while the "progressives" are boycotting Home Depot and perhaps some other corporations to punish them for supporting evil "Tea Party" / Conservative causes, a lot of those right wing radicals are boycotting the same outfits for supporting "gay pride" events and the like.

Obviously you can't make everyone happy, and the harder you try the more people get 9!$$ed off at you.

You'd think that corporations would learn by now to just do their business and shut up about partisan / controversial political / social issues. But no matter what they do or don't do someone is going to be "offended" and start whining for a boycott.

When the leftists started yowling for a boycott of Israel (whom leftists and progressives are obliged to hate, apparently, even if they are Jewish) some of us Christian contrarians started a BUYcott for Israel, going out of our way to buy Israeli goods & products and such. We don't just punish companies for "bad" decisions ("good" and "bad" being ideologically determined apparently) but we reward them for actions compatible with our standards.
That's the democracy of the free market for ya.
Let their profit margin determine if they made the right decision or not. That's capitalism for ya.

How's JC Penny stock doing since they came out for sodom.... err... "gay marriage"? Oh my!!!;

J.C. Penney stock crashes with news of gay marriage support

See what I mean?

A common attitude among TEApers is if we can't beat 'em, at least annoy the heck out of 'em.

How are we doin' so far komrades?
