Subject: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: Bert Date: 11 Feb 05 - 02:16 PM If you need a hobby that is really inexpensive try paper modelling. You can start with free downloads - just Type "paper model" download in Google and you'll get loads of free models which you can print out on cardstock. For some reason big pack of cardstock costs about as much as a twenty sheet pack, so shop around. There's all sorts of stuff out there, boats, architecture, spacecraft, animals. Whatever your interest. Then you can progress onto models that you can buy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: gnu Date: 11 Feb 05 - 03:12 PM The internet. Assuming you have a PC for other reasons. You get to research all kinds of stuff and, if you're lucky enough, find a great bunck of folks at the Mudcat Cafe. Best damn dollar I ever spent. |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: GUEST,Pasquale Date: 12 Feb 05 - 10:05 PM Painting nail polish on women's toenails in the library. This requires stealth, as it is important not to be caught in the act. One waits quietly under a convenient table. I prefer red nail polish. If a woman sits down who already has red nail polish on her toes, then I overpaint it with dark green or blue. I hate pantyhose, because it ruins a perfectly good opportunity. I perform this service at no charge for complete strangers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: Pauline L Date: 12 Feb 05 - 10:16 PM Playing an instrument you already own. This is my favorite hobby, as well as the cheapest. I just need to stop buying books of sheet music and CDs. Photography is like playing my violin. I own a digital camera and a friend gave me some software, so now the fun is free. Surfing the Internet and talking to friends on Mudcat, if you own or have access to a computer is great, too. Some kinds of exercise, like yoga and walking are free. Of course, yoga lessons cost money. Reading all the books you've already bought. Cooking. You have to eat anyway. I'm dealing with chronic unemployment, so I must indulge in cheap or cost free thrills. (I can anticipate some awful responses to this. Please don't!) |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: GUEST,Rapaire Date: 13 Feb 05 - 09:46 AM Getting older. Just find some nice spot and sit there. I prefer a spot where the liquor is fine, the women and men amiable, the scenery wonderful, the sun warm, and the food good. But you can do this inside a cardboard box, too. |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: Jim Dixon Date: 14 Feb 05 - 06:27 PM Making mosaics out of broken pottery and cement. (Call the local thrift store and make them an offer on all the donated pottery that won't sell because it's chipped or cracked.) Raising your own birdseed. (Sunflowers, millet.) You don't even have to harvest it--let the birds eat it where it stands. Going to the public library and reading books or magazines. Sometimes they even have CDs, DVDs, and videocassettes you can check out free. Playing cards, checkers or chess with friends (as long as you don't play for money). Picking up trash in public parks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Inexpensive Hobbies From: Bert Date: 14 Feb 05 - 08:38 PM Raising your own birdseed... Just be careful when you plant canary mix though. The hemp might grow and cause you problems with the local constabulary. |
