Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 19 Oct 24 - 10:51 AM Hello Peter, Thanks for the information on Cyril O'Donoghue. I have added both the people you mentioned to this thread. I was already aware of Francis but usually wait awhile before adding so that there is enough information posted to help me give a fair representation of the artist. All the best, Pete |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 19 Oct 24 - 11:07 AM I have added Francis McPeake and Cyril O'Donoghue to the roll today. Two giants of Irish folk music who travelled the world bringing their music to a wide and appreciative audience. There is much to see (and hear) on the web. May they rest in peace. |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: GUEST,Peter Laban Date: 19 Oct 24 - 11:33 AM Thanks Pete, I wasn't sure how often you check the forum for obits so added Francie McPeak here, before the thread dropped off the page. I hadn't posted about Cyril before but decided to add him to the post at the last minute, his death was unexpected and a shock. Especially his singing contributions would have been appreciated on Mudcat. Sometimes it's hard to decide if someone is outside Mudcat's remit or the ouside the interest of readers here. I also didn't mention Charlie Lennon here who died during the summer. He's much missed by the traditional music community in Ireland. And I don't want to be the one who post obits all the time, even though I think it's important to acknowledge the people leaving us. |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 30 Oct 24 - 11:14 AM I have added Dave Earl (aka Breton Cap) who has died this month. Although his death was expected we all hoped it would be later rather than soon. He will be much missed. |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 01 Apr 25 - 10:25 AM I have had a little trouble with my Internet connection lately so apologise if I have been a little slow in adding Kath Bainbridge, Tracy Schwartz and Tony Wilson to the thread. However, they are all now safely installed. Three fine performers all of whom will be greatly missed by friends and family. My condolences to you all. RIP. |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Fred Date: 01 Apr 25 - 12:25 PM I've not been a member long... Looking at the names, I'm wondering who the departed were, what they did, their contributions, and I wish I'd known them. I think this thread is a great idea, and I think they'd be proud of you, each one of them. Fred |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 08 Nov 25 - 11:08 AM What can I say? Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 10 Nov 25 - 11:28 AM I received a message from Sean O'Shea letting me know that Dave Lowry had died in October this year. He was very much a man of Devon and there is a good coverage of his life on the Internet. As he has no Obit thread (as yet!) I have included him in the "Those who haven't a thread but ought to have" section of the main thread. If you know him well and would like to start a thread that would be very helpful. My condolences to all those who know and love him. RIP |

Subject: RE: In Memoriam From: Waddon Pete Date: 12 Nov 25 - 10:42 AM Thanks for the updates Felipa and Gillymor. Felipa's Internet links give a good feel for Bill Meek and his achievements. Sadly, Robbie Robertson and Jimmy Buffett, good though they were, don't qualify for our listing. Sorry about that. |
