Subject: BS: Astrological Forecast of US Election Day
From: GUEST,Hecate

I don't know how many followers of mundane and political astrology inhabit this forum, so I thought I would put a toe in the water to see.

For those who aren't quite sure what mundane astrology is, Wikipedia has a good entry on it.

The upcoming US Election Day, November 4, 2008, will be quite significant in mundane astrological terms.

Here is a nice overview of the series of transits involved, which will take us from November '08 through July of 2010:

http://www.astrology21.co.uk/c1saturnuranus.html

Because this is such a long, drawn out series of transits including slow moving outer planets, there is some disagreement as to whether we will see authentic change in the 2008 elections, the 2010 elections, or the 2012 elections, when the series of transits finishes and we find ourselves fully immersed in the new paradigm.

One aspect of this transit series is it's contact w/the planets most associated with the traditional feminine energies in Western astrology, suggesting there may yet be a significant theme involving a specific woman or women in general in November, even though we now know Clinton is out. It might manifest itself as women voting as a bloc in some way, for instance, or perhaps Michelle Obama as the first African American First Lady.

Some astrologers view Saturn as representing the Republicans, and Uranus representing the Democrats.

Other astrologers, some of the Uranian school especially, are viewing Saturn as both the traditional parties, and Uranus as anti-establishment, third parties, or independent candidates.

Anyone care to seriously discuss this interesting alignment of the planets on Election Day?

And please, I respectfully ask people with no interest in the subject, or who find it silly, to refrain from posting to the thread with the express purpose of mocking or deriding astrology and/or those of us with an interest in it.

Thanks!

I am inclined to support the Uranus class, myself. But I don't know what it says.

*grin*, Amos...I kinda agree.

Whether one does, or does not, take astrology seriously, there are enough hedges and 'maybes' in those suppositions to predict almost any outcome.

*sitting on hands, lest I say more*

a strike against free speech thread. That's what I'd call this. A message telling skeptics, don't post if you don't agree. Well, here is my one post.

Hecate, there don't appear to be many members of this forum who are interested in astrology.

Although you can count me as one person who is interested in this subject, I usually decline to discuss it on this forum because I have found that there rarely are serious discussions.

However, let me say that, with regard to the upcoming US Presidential election, one placement that I believe is already influential, and will continue to be highly influential is Pluto in Capricorn.

There are many online articles about this placement. Here's a link to one of them:

Positive vibrations,

Bullying is what I call it and Azizi has it right. I am interested, too, but rarely discuss it here for the obvious reasons above, which really pisses me off, at times.

I don't think I am doing either of those when I raise the question of what you mean by a "forecast of US Election Day". To my mind, such a forecast would be a statement made now that on the day after the election you be able to say did or did not happen. As Bill D said, there are enouch 'if's and 'maybe's in what was said that I can't see anything I would personally call a forecast of the election.

- my one post, I think -

The Swiss website Astrodienst is arguably the very best astrology resource on the planet today. Several threads about the US election have been running on this board for quite awhile now. Not being American myself, I haven't exactly scrutinized them but no doubt you'll find thought-provoking info and interpretations there, courtesy of novice and professional astrologers alike.

When I refer to a forecast I mean the alignment of the heavens at a particular time/place/day, and what patterns the heavenly bodies are creating in the sky in relation to one another.

Thank you for that link daylia. I use that site frequently, but don't use the board.

I view astrology as an ancient art, not a modern science. It harms no one, so I've never been able to understand the vituperative reaction some people have to it.

I don't believe astrology tells you who wins, even though I know some people believe it does.

There are Democrats who say they will win and Republicans who say they will win, based upon no other information than "it is what I believe" so I see "believing in" astrology to be no more or less odd than "believing" the Democrat/Republican will win based upon the belief system of the hocus pocus pundits and pollsters. Turn on any cable news channel obsessing over the elections, and it makes astrology look like rocket science.

It isn't like there aren't plenty of deluded thinkers in this world, who cling to far more dangerous belief systems--like believing in the American political process, for instance--than astrology.

You are completely right, Hecate. There are sooo many. A wonderful book from last year called The Great Derangement, Matt Taibbi, describes two major camps of delusion -- the camp of the "(-11 Truthers" and the gyrations of certain extreme Christian sects in Texas.

The American political process, however, is not delusory, just flawed.

Astrology? Well, it is an intricate system of pseudo metrics, but I am skeptical, never having seen a serious study of correlations that could be called empirical, or even predictable in terms of individual affect or prognosis. But perhaps I just haven't done enough homework? I kinda doubt that the disposition of large bodies of matter far, far away is going to be a key configuration in the formation of individuality, though.

Oh well. Must be a boring day in the cosmos all round. Why else would NASA post a pic of people dancing (!!??!!) instead of the usual magnificent astronomical wonders?

Many humans on Earth exhibit periods of happiness, and one method of displaying happiness is dancing. Happiness and dancing transcend political boundaries and occur in practically every human society.... Happiness is frequently contagious -- few people are able to watch the above video without smiling

hohum :-)
