Both lists of threads active within the last 24 hours are quite SHORT right now, and there a lot of unidentified GUEST postings. Looks like Mudcat has been accessible by the back door only for a whole day or more.

I try to remember to ID myself when posting in this situation, but sometimes forget. I'm sure the same is true for others, resulting in a lot of inadvertant anonymity.

I sure wish there were more interesting "above-the-line" music threads right now (Well, interesting to me). For my money, a good day at Mudcat is a day when I never have to venture down here below the line to keep myself entertained.

I would guess that the subset of members who know the backdoor address includes a higher percentage of hardcore posters who indulge in plenty of BS in addtion to (or even instead of) musical musings. Am I right?

so do I - but I can't complain, really, because I don't have enough knowledge to ADD to the music discussions - or even START one.

sure - I'm pretty good at search - but that's nothing like being able to add personal knowledge.

If you want to bring some back to the top just expand the number of days you want to view (see the drop down menu that by default is set at one day). Look at a few, and if all you do is click "submit" without a remark or simply add "refresh" it'll be back to the top for others who have come through the backdoor to see.

azizi - I still feel like a newcomer sometimes - and I'd hate to tell you how long I've been here. *grin* it's situational.

There are other folks who fit in so smoothly I was astonished to check their history and find they had only been posting a few days or few weeks.

Well, I would be interested in a music thread that discussed how each of us got into music, what we want and get out of it and where we want to go with it and what we would do with music in the best of all worlds, the limitations that hold us back from it and whatever else happened in the thread.

On another note (ha!) I'm thinking of starting a thread about innovation in a weekly jam/session.

There is another "backdoor" that sometimes works when www.mudcat.org is down, but I didn't write it down because I thought I'd remember it. Anybody know the name of that server?

I think accordions are very musical. The whistling sound they make as they plummet to the ground after being thrown from very tall buildings is quite lovely.
