Subject: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,PoppaGator Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:19 AM Both lists of threads active within the last 24 hours are quite SHORT right now, and there a lot of unidentified GUEST postings. Looks like Mudcat has been accessible by the back door only for a whole day or more. I try to remember to ID myself when posting in this situation, but sometimes forget. I'm sure the same is true for others, resulting in a lot of inadvertant anonymity. I sure wish there were more interesting "above-the-line" music threads right now (Well, interesting to me). For my money, a good day at Mudcat is a day when I never have to venture down here below the line to keep myself entertained. I would guess that the subset of members who know the backdoor address includes a higher percentage of hardcore posters who indulge in plenty of BS in addtion to (or even instead of) musical musings. Am I right? |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,MMario Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:24 AM I sure wish there were more interesting "above-the-line" music threads right now (Well, interesting to me). so do I - but I can't complain, really, because I don't have enough knowledge to ADD to the music discussions - or even START one. sure - I'm pretty good at search - but that's nothing like being able to add personal knowledge. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,CarolC Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:30 AM So... PoppaGator... want to talk about accordions? ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Stilly River Sage Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:30 AM If you want to bring some back to the top just expand the number of days you want to view (see the drop down menu that by default is set at one day). Look at a few, and if all you do is click "submit" without a remark or simply add "refresh" it'll be back to the top for others who have come through the backdoor to see. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Azizi Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:47 AM I'm glad that someone posted the backdoor address in another thread some time ago. Otherwise, how would a newbie know? * WHEN the Mudcat front door opens up again, if folks who don't the backdoor address visit this thread, here is that address: http://207.103.108.99/threads.cfm *And at what point is a person not a newbie here? After posting for one year?? Just wonderin..God willing and the creek don't rise, I'll still be around.. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Azizi Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:51 AM See, reading my last post you can tell that 1. I can't multi-task worth a darn and 2. I should use the preview feature but never do What I meant to say was this: WHEN the Mudcat front door opens up again, if folks who don't know the backdoor address happen to visit this thread, here is that address.. :O) |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,MMario Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:08 AM azizi - I still feel like a newcomer sometimes - and I'd hate to tell you how long I've been here. *grin* it's situational. There are other folks who fit in so smoothly I was astonished to check their history and find they had only been posting a few days or few weeks. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Ebbie Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:16 AM Well, I would be interested in a music thread that discussed how each of us got into music, what we want and get out of it and where we want to go with it and what we would do with music in the best of all worlds, the limitations that hold us back from it and whatever else happened in the thread. On another note (ha!) I'm thinking of starting a thread about innovation in a weekly jam/session. Eb |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Nigel Parsons Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:22 AM Well to introduce something musical, there was a series of animations by Cosgrove Hall, entitled "Trapdoor", and the theme may be fitting: Don't you open that backdoor! Your a fool if you dare. Don't you open that backdoor, Cause theres BS down there Nigel |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,John Hardly Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:29 AM Ebbie, You start either of those threads an I'll be all over 'em! (alas, my last two music threads were a bit "esoteric" and made it off the front sans reply). |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,JennyO Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:50 AM You want a good above-the-line thread? Try this one! - Why We Sing, Part II |
|
Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,MBSLynne Date: 29 Mar 05 - 12:21 PM I probably post to fairly equal a,ounts of threads above and below the line. At the moment I wish there were more interesting threads BELOW the line... Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Ebbie Date: 29 Mar 05 - 12:41 PM Start one, Lynne. I love the 'Why We Sing' thread, but it's not exactly what I have in mind. Let me think on it, John Hardly. And in the meantime, if someone else wants to start one of them, great. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,Joe Offer Date: 29 Mar 05 - 12:44 PM There is another "backdoor" that sometimes works when www.mudcat.org is down, but I didn't write it down because I thought I'd remember it. Anybody know the name of that server? -Joe, of the faulty memory- |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: Sorcha Date: 29 Mar 05 - 12:48 PM Buddy, Joe, and the Front door is open! |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: PoppaGator Date: 29 Mar 05 - 04:10 PM I'm glad I started this, if for no other reason than prompting JennyO to revive "Why We Sing Part II." Wow!!! Thanks so much. I'll have to check out "Part I" soon... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: CarolC Date: 29 Mar 05 - 06:25 PM to introduce something musical Well, you may not regard accordions as something musical, but some of us do. ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST Date: 29 Mar 05 - 10:58 PM Accordians the true path. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 29 Mar 05 - 11:10 PM I think accordions are very musical. The whistling sound they make as they plummet to the ground after being thrown from very tall buildings is quite lovely. |

Subject: RE: BS: backdoor! From: GUEST,MBSLynne Date: 30 Mar 05 - 05:28 AM Well it's back door only AGAIN. Buddy hasn't worked for me for ages. Ebbie, I've started loads of threads but I've run out of ideas at the moment. Love Lynne |
