Subject: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: The Shambles Date: 16 Jun 00 - 05:39 PM There is a opportunity to see a fine documentary on the 60s English folk scene and what influenced it. Details are . Thanks to Roger and Bugsy. |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Llanfair Date: 17 Jun 00 - 04:26 AM I hope they show it on S4C, we can't get ordinary Channel 4. We can't get Channel 5 at all, but I'm told that's a blessing!!!! Hwyl, Bron. |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: The Shambles Date: 17 Jun 00 - 08:56 AM I will certainly make and keep (not record football over the top of it this time) a copy of it so if you cannot receive it direct, you will not miss it. |

Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Brian Hoskin Date: 19 Jun 00 - 07:17 AM Bron. Think yourself lucky, in Aberystwyth I get the double curse of both S4C AND Channel 5! Brian |

Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Easy Rider Date: 20 Jun 00 - 11:44 AM As I understand it, this is a documentary on Bert Jansch. I hope somebody can record it, in North American VHS format, and send it to me or some other Mudcatter, who can then copy it and distribute it, at cost, to other interested Mudcatters, here in the Colonies. Any volunteers? I can make copies of the tape. Send me email. EZR |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: The Shambles Date: 22 Jun 00 - 05:38 AM I have a VCR that says I can play US format tapes on it. Does anyone know if a programme taped on such a machine would produce a tape that could be played on a US machine? |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Easy Rider Date: 22 Jun 00 - 09:51 AM Read the instruction manual. Does it say HOW to record in American VHS format? Is there a switch, to go back and forth between formats? |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: The Shambles Date: 22 Jun 00 - 01:20 PM I hoped you would not ask that.
I think I can understand the intructions written in Japanese a little better than the English ones. I will have a bash. |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: GUEST,art Date: 22 Jun 00 - 03:20 PM shambles is this the programme billed as dreamweaver? 'cos the prog. referred to earlier in this thread made me think it was a repeat of a documentary about "les cousins" |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: GUEST,art Date: 22 Jun 00 - 03:41 PM cont. after frozen keyboard this seems to be a different prog altogether called"dreamweaver" containing "20 minutes of live performance from 1999" or is it a repeat plus 20 minutes? shall watch it anyway, hoping he's better than on jools's later show. thanks for alert cheers bill |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Nynia Date: 22 Jun 00 - 05:37 PM Hi Shambles your video will only play tapes recorded in American (NTSC) format not record in NTSC unfortunately. Easy Rider, I can record the program into NTSC for you we have a conversion VCR in work. The only problem may be that I am off on holiday for two weeks from the following Saturday so I may not get the chance to do this until I get back. Otherwise no problems. |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: The Shambles Date: 22 Jun 00 - 06:09 PM OOPS!
Dreamweaver is indeed the programme. It is on at 01.25 (early hours of the 29th).
"A profile of songwriter and guitar player Bert Jansch, containing over 20 minutes of live performance from1999.".
Who was it that said that assumption was the mother of all F***-ups?
Strangely, there is a Billy Connolly 'stand-up' show recorded in Glasgow, scheduled for 11.20 on BBC 1, but this depending on the football ending on time. Sorry for the wrong info. |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: GUEST,art Date: 23 Jun 00 - 02:48 AM shambles it will be worth recording and sending to our american friends anyway. be alert-your country needs lerts (o.k i'll groan for you) cheers bill |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Ed Pellow Date: 23 Jun 00 - 11:41 AM There was an interesting article about Bert and the programme in today's Independent. You can read it here Ed |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Ed Pellow Date: 23 Jun 00 - 11:54 AM Hmmm, sorry about the link not working. The url seems right so maybe it's the way the Independent have set up their site. If you go to The Independent's Home Page, click on 'Enjoyment' and then 'Music' you should find the article 'Return of the Dream Weaver' (I suspect that these instuctions will only remain accurate for the next 12 hours or so - I've saved a copy of the article, so send me a personal message if the above doesn't work) Ed Ed |
Subject: RE: UK TV Alert -Channel 4 on 28th June From: Easy Rider Date: 23 Jun 00 - 12:45 PM Nynia, you're on! Contact me by Mudcat email (I'm registered), when you have the tape. All Bert's American fans Thank You. EZR |
